— Cheshire Cat
Cheshire Cat is a character from the Disney film Alice in Wonderland (1951). Quests to invite him begin after the Alice in Wonderland Realm is unlocked, and after and completing a series of quests ending in Cat Tree Catastrophe.
His home is a large orange leafed tree. Once unlocked, he will be added to the Dreamlight Valley Characters Collection.
Unlocking
Cheshire Cat will begin to appear in the Valley after completing the Alice in Wonderland Realm quest Leaving Wonderland. After that quest is complete, entering Scrooge's Store will begin the quest Mannequin Madness, which is the first quest to unlock Cheshire Cat. The second quest - Chaos in the Kitchen - is available from Remy inside his restaurant. The third quest is Cat Tree Catastrophe, which will permanently add Cheshire Cat's Tree to the Valley as a Villager.
He was originally time gated after he was introduced to the game, and the quests to unlock him slowly became available during the two weeks after the release of Update 16.
Schedule
- Main article: Time
Cheshire Cat is a unique Villager in how his schedule works. Unlike other Villagers, he cannot be found wandering the Valley, visiting Scrooge's Store or eating at either Chez Remy or Tiana's Palace. He spends all day at his home, and will occasionally appear and disappear when the Player is nearby. The only time the Cheshire Cat will be seen outside of his home is during certain quests or when hanging out with the Player. However, even while hanging out, he continues to vanish and reappear. Although he may not be visible, the player will still receive the bonus items normally received when hanging out with other Villagers.
Friendship Rewards
Cheshire Cat will award the following rewards when Friendship levels are reached. Friendship can be leveled up through gifts, quests, conversation, or by hanging out.

Next time we part, be sure to find me.

- If you're wondering which way to go, I'd go the fifth way.

Daily Discussions
Are you intentionally confusing?
Oh, all I intend to do intentionally is be unintentional.
→ I get it!
Do you really? You understand how to try not to try?
→ I think so.
Then perhaps you should try again.
→ I'm lost again.
Oh, that's the very best place to be.
→ Really seems like you're being confusing on purpose.
But I've no purpose but NOT to be purposeful. Which is a purpose, of course.
→ Makes total sense!
How much sense in total?
→ I'm gonna go.
Oh, I hope you do so purposefully!
What are you thinking about?
Hm... They went that way.
→ Thank you... I think.
I suppose you're very pleased to be welcome, too.
- Are you all right?
- Where do you go when you disappear?
Are you REALLY a cat?
What else would I be?
→ I'm honestly not sure.
Then neither am I.
→ ... I guess a cat is all that makes sense.
If you say so.

Do you know the pigs who grew wings?
Goodness, no. That sounds implausible.

But not impossible?

Well, I do know better than to say that.

Naturally.

A dog growls when angry and wags its tail when pleased. Yes?
Sure, yeah.

I growl when pleased and wag my tail when angry.

Um... okay? Not sure what that has to do with food...

Cheshire Cat, have you seen a rabbit hole nearby? Or perhaps a door?

Yes. Of course, I could see better with the proper fungi light to illuminate my thoughts...

Do you mean those curious, colorful mushrooms?
I do. Shall we each enjoy a color?

Trivia
- Cheshire Cat is the first Villager to have unlocking him take place over multiple days since Stitch.
- In this game, Cheshire Cat is voiced by Jim Cummings. Originally voiced by Disney Legend Sterling Holloway in the 1951 animated film, Cummings took over many of Holloway's voice roles in modern Disney projects, first voicing Cheshire Cat in a bonus feature on a 2004 DVD release of the original film, then going on to perform the role in other projects such as Kinect: Disneyland Adventures and Kingdom Hearts re:Coded.
- Alongside Cheshire Cat, Cummings voices a large variety of other Disney characters. His credits include being the modern voice actor for Winnie the Pooh and Tigger, Pete from the Mickey & Friends series, Kaa from The Jungle Book, and King Triton from The Little Mermaid. Additionally, Cummings has originated several roles for Disney, such as Ed from The Lion King, Ray from The Princess and the Frog, and Hondo Ohnaka from Star Wars, as well as being a regular voice actor in shows from The Disney Afternoon era of TV shows, including Fat Cat from Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers, Don Karnage from TaleSpin, Bonkers D. Bobcat from Bonkers, and his personal favorite, Darkwing Duck.
- Cummings' notable non-Disney roles include Cat from CatDog, Dr. Robotnik in the Sonic the Hedgehog TV series, and recurringly voicing the Tasmanian Devil from the Looney Tunes franchise.
