IMO tool skins are more appropriately clothing because they're edited through the Wardrobe menu.

:You have an good point, this exact wording hasn't been used by the devs about these tools. The decision not to list these tool skins on the clothing page (even though they are categorized as clothing in their infoboxes) was because even though they are 'equipped' using the wardrobe panel like other clothing - they are not tracked in the clothing collection. It also just seems 'at odds' with the clothing list to include a bunch of tool images (though I would probably suggest we did if they were tracked in the collection).
:Pets I think are a different case - even though the models are similar between pets, rather then 'reskins' (which indicates there is a base skin being modified) pets are independent items. For example you don't need to have a regular sea turtle to get a celestial sea turtle - they're completely separate. These tool skins build on a 'base appearance' - you couldn't unlock the shovel appearance without first having the shovel. In that sense it's operating like a house or villager skin in that the base appearance is first unlocked and these are changing how that looks.
:Regardless of the above, I think this page should include everything that has been defined in the game as 'skins' (which is how GL has referenced house & villager dream styles in the past, as well as these new tool appearances), my understanding is 'dream style' is synonymous with 'skin' for the purposes of this game/the wiki. -- [[User:Marblemadmax|Marblemadmax]] ([[User talk:Marblemadmax|talk]]) 11:18, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
