Flooring purchased after Update 5

Hi, I noticed you made number of changes on the Flooring page -- I wanted to verify that you purchased/obtained all of those Floors AFTER Update 5 (2023-06-07), and they still did not register in the Collection? Other than Founder's Pack items, items obtained prior to that date do not seem to register in the Collection. Lizz (talk) 20:50, 27 July 2023 (UTC)

Hi, I purchased those floors before and after the update. I don't know wich ones I purchased before and after the update, but I'm sure the ones I purchased after update 5 are showing correctly while the old ones don't -- but I'm not 100% sure. Anyway, we can remove those notes then, and write a line at the top of the article saying that, by the moment (I guess they'll fix it in other update), flooring purchased prior to update 5 does not show in the Furniture tab (except for the Founder packs items, wich actually do appear). Crafting Collection items on Furniture Page

Hey - thought it's probably better to discuss the ancient civ furniture here vs editing back and forth. There's not been a clear policy about which items should be included there, so we should have a chat about it (and then can update the style guide).

You are correct, there are other crafted objects and quest objects listed on the furniture page - but they're only there in specific cases:

  • The furniture is 'double-tracked' - meaning the furniture is logged into both the crafting collection and the furniture collection. I think it makes sense to include these pieces, since they're tracked in the furniture collection and players may be confused by counts if so many of them are missing (there are quite a few of these).
  • Quest furniture which is placed & permanently remains in the Valley. This is 'player furniture', not just confined to the quest (like furniture which disappears after the quest is complete). The furniture page seems like the best place to track this since even though it's not tracked in the collection (it's still player collectable).

The ancient pieces you added, don't meet either of the criteria above - they're just crafted furniture. By this logic all other crafted furniture should also be included on the page, and the reasons it hasn't been are;

  • I think it's redundant to list out items on the furniture page which are already (and only) tracked in a separate collection
  • More importantly (this is the reasoning most convincing for me) - after adding couple hundred crafting item images the page becomes much larger and will loads slowly & increases strain on the site. It's the same reason that all wallpapers weren't added to the furniture page when they were integrated with the collections - that furniture page is going to continue to grow and it's important to keep it minimal whenever possible.

I do think tracking the furniture on the Ancient Civilization page makes sense, that was a good addition! But I think adding them to the furniture page opens the door to too many extra items (all crafted furniture) and we should keep them separate.

I should have sent a message before reverting your edit, I'm sorry I didn't! It's always better to have a chat to get thoughts out about this sort of thing vs editing back and forth and messaging through commit messages. Let me know what you think! -- Marblemadmax (talk) 02:02, 17 September 2023 (UTC)

Hello¡ So, first of all, sorry if I seemed rude. Now, after reading your message, I understand better the criteria to add (or not) objects to that list. Now, you can delete then from the (General) Furniture list and keep them only in the Ancient Civilization separate page because it makes sense based on what you said.

Once again, sorry and thank you for the explanation¡¡ -- Let Aurora nap (talk) 04:11, 17 September 2023 (CEST)

Note: Already done by myself, don't worry ^^
