'Unacceptable page name' when creating page

I have been attempting to create a page 'Category:Mickey and Friends' but have been unable to. I think I'm getting caught by a language filter? Nuke Kitty (talk) 01:51, 16 September 2022 (UTC)

There's something not right with that filter - thanks for flagging that. I've disabled it for now -- Marblemadmax (talk) 00:46, 18 September 2022 (UTC)

More information in the Realms pages

I don´t know if this goes here, so sorry in advance if it not.

Well, what I want to suggest is that we expand the info in the Realms pages, like describing them, adding some photos, references from the movies etc... I think it would give a better idea of how the realm is to the readers. Let Aurora nap (talk) 15:56, 9 December 2022 (UTC+01:00)

Disney Item Use Issue

Hello, I noticed an edit on the wiki page for the “Curses and Hexing 101” book. I was wondering if there was an error on the use of the item? The book shelf in the secret room when interacting with only offered the option of the “Conspicuous Book“ to be selected. The three others books (Curses and Hexing 101, The Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration, Conjure Your Cares Away) were not highlighted or available to be used in the book shelf.

I replied to this message on my talk page as well - but copying here for visibility. I've removed the info about this book use until it's better verified! Thanks for the report -- Marblemadmax (talk) 13:32, 21 February 2023 (UTC)

Furniture category should default to unknown rather than decor

When making new furniture pages, can we tag them with missing categories & not categorize them as decor by default unless the categories are actually verified? It's hard to figure out which furniture are missing categories / incorrectly categorized as decor when this is done by default.

I'm guilty of this and agree it's messy to cleanup - will make sure going forward to leave leave the param empty if it's not been verified in game! -- Marblemadmax (talk) 09:40, 11 April 2023 (UTC)

Cookbook recipe vs required recipe

Are the recipes on the wiki supposed to list the ingredients given by the in-game cookbook or the actual items needed to make it? A few recipes (for example, red fruit pie) use one or more generic ingredients (ex: wheat, butter, any fruit), but if you use any ingredient in the category other than one (ex: any fruit other than raspberry) you get a different item. In either case, it would be helpful if the infobox could at least have a reference at the bottom noting the difference between the cookbook recipe and the required ingredients.

The standard we've used so far is to match the game in all cases - EXCEPT when it states a recipe uses "Any Ingredient" and that's not the case. For example if a recipe calls for 'ANY VEGGIE' (example) and specific veggies don't produce the recipe the wiki should instead list the veggies which work. This is not a perfect solution - players will continue to point out the wiki is different than the game and think it's in error - but it's more accurate this way, and will be less prone to players finding the info, trying to make a recipe and then not understanding why it doesn't work (which can happen if you're only using the game cookbook for reference). -- Marblemadmax (talk) 09:38, 11 April 2023 (UTC)

Including other languages

I am not finding a means of communication between the owner of the page, but I will create a post here (since it is the only means), I'm from Brazil and here we have a lot of dreamlight valley players, but we don't have a wiki in portuguese yet, and that would help a lot since many people are not fluent in english or spanish. I have the idea of making a Portuguese version of this wiki, like the stardew valley wiki where it is possible to change languages. It would be possible? I am responsible for doing everything myself, I just need to know how to include another language on the site... Thank you, for now.

Hello - thanks for the interest in helping expand the wiki. Unfortunately we don't have the resources to manage multiple languages right now, but I know there is a lot of interest and it may be something setup in the future. -- Marblemadmax (talk) 01:01, 22 June 2023 (UTC)

Royal Winter Star Path Duties not totaling to 1010 but 1000

Not sure anyone else noticed, but this event the numbers are totalling 1000 instead of 1010, at least they are on the wiki page. I have been trying to keep track but I am not sure which duty is off. Or if it even does total 1010 in game. - PrincessAudrii

RESOLVED/ARCHIVED

Previous topics are commented out below.

Twitter is now X

On the Dreamlight Valley page, 'Twitter' should be replaced with 'X'.

Typo on Rabbits pages

Within the first main paragraph, second to last sentence, has 'and' twice before Seaweed hyperlink.

/ Its favorite food is Carrot, and it likes Grains, and Spices & Herbs and Vegetables as they are defined on the Ingredients tab of the Collection menu - i.e. Vanilla is included and and Seaweed is not. /

I attempted to update but there wasn't a button for it. This occurs on the following pages: https://dreamlightvalleywiki.com/Black_Rabbit https://dreamlightvalleywiki.com/Brown_Rabbit https://dreamlightvalleywiki.com/Calico_Rabbit https://dreamlightvalleywiki.com/Classic_Rabbit https://dreamlightvalleywiki.com/White_Rabbit

Thanks for the callout, should be fixed now! Lizz (talk) 17:55, 9 August 2023 (UTC)

Tags for Shimmering Green/Pink Scaled pants

I was looking around the wiki and saw the tags for both items mentioned above, but it seems like Modern went first on one and Cute went first on the other. Is there a style guide or anything that can verify which tags go first?

Sumpaiyo (talk) 06:51, 25 August 2023 (UTC)Sumpaiyo

That's something that's being worked on - in this case is tag order should match the game display order. That hasn't always been enforced/standardized so there may be pages where the wiki is in error, but there are a number of instances in the game where the display order is different between colorizations of items, in this case I'm not sure which is the reason the order is different! -- Marblemadmax (talk) 11:20, 25 August 2023 (UTC)

To-Do list, proposition for homepage

I'd like to help around the wiki, especially after I just realized most of the wiki was made by one person. But I don't know where to start, so a to-do list is helpful. I'd also like to improve the homepage, by adding names and things for people to help navigate the wiki better. For the homepage, I'd like to start by adding names below the villagers' images in the available villagers section, especially for newbies. Aside from that, a style guide is helpful, and I myself have dialogues of some quests themselves, player, villager, dialogue options and all. Seems like you need a helping hand-if you don't need one, it's alright.

Sumpaiyo (talk) 05:56, 29 August 2023 (UTC)Sumpaiyo

Thanks for the offer to help out!! The wiki wasn't made by just one person, there is a small group of active editors :)
For the homepage - I think I'd like to leave out names for now. I'd originally tested that layout (like the character article has formatted) and found it expands the space the menu takes up quite a bit. I think as more characters are added it will become more difficult to manage with names/images vs just images/scalable icons. We can discuss adjustments to it - but probably the best place is the discussion page so it's easy to find & associated with that page.
There isn't a lot of outstanding 'to do' in terms of data entry - I think quest dialogue and/or more detailed walkthroughs for quests is a great place to start! Here's a good example article that's incorporated a 'walkthrough' and the quest dialogue. There are a bunch of articles which need minor cleanup, verifications, and items which are missing some info - you can for an idea of where those things are.
We've been working on a style guide -- in the meantime don't hesitate to help out where you see the need or ask questions. It's very easy to cleanup anything that needs a little adjustment/reformatting. -- Marblemadmax (talk) 17:49, 30 August 2023 (UTC)

Zaira (talk) Island Sofa

I purchased this Island Sofa, in Scrooge's shop, today, 14 September 2023. It was on the upper left side in the right slot with an exec desk.

Dreamlight Valley

With Eternity Isle coming, i could add the characters found in the main Valley to the Dreamlight Valley page. Does that sound like a good idea?

Melted Candles still available!

Hey guys, just wanted to let someone know that the Melted Candles are still in rotation!!

I was looking at the page for the Melted Candles last night with a friend while we were discussing our “grail” items in Scrooge’s Store and what we should each be on the lookout for now that multiplayer is live, and saw the blurb about it being out of rotation…imagine both the surprise today when it popped up in her shot lol

She wasn’t able to grab a timed screen grab but I do have a screenshot, however this page won’t allow external links so if someone can tell me where to send it for verification I gladly will!

Thanks for the report - will update the page! -- Marblemadmax (talk) 19:20, 7 December 2023 (UTC)

Round Bottomed Flask & Holder

Looks like this is back in rotation at Scrooge's store. I just received it. Might want to be on the look out for the other previously missing items.

Crafting Recipe Incorrect

Regular Ancient Vacuum crafting recipe is stated as the recipe for Regular Ancient Cooker.

thanks, fixed! Lizz (talk) 01:45, 9 January 2024 (UTC)

Meal/Restaurant Schedules Missing

Hi, I noticed that Rapunzel, Gaston, Mike and Sully's restaurant times are missing from the table. I think it would be very helpful to have those added. Thank you so much for upkeeping this wiki!
