Cotton Seed is a seed type which can be planted and harvested to obtain Ingredients.
They can be purchased from Goofy's Stall in the Sunlit Plateau after the initial Stall repair.
It takes 25 minutes to grow and 3 total waterings until 1 Cotton can be harvested.
They can be planted in any Biome, but will grow 10% faster when planted in the Sunlit Plateau (the Biome where they can be purchased). This accelerated growth is denoted in the UI by a caret (^) icon that appears on the upper left corner of the seed image when choosing a seed to plant in its preferred Biome.
It can be placed in the world by highlighting it inside the Inventory window and selecting Drop. After it has been removed from inventory it can be positioned using furniture placement mode.
