Modes

  • In   Selfie Mode, the Player holds the camera with their left hand and occupies most of the bottom right, just off-center of the main frame. The Player is only visible from the chest upwards. In this mode, depending on the current camera angle, nearby Villagers (including any Villager that is currently Hanging Out with the Player), will often approach to get in the photo and pose. No other mode prompts Villagers to pose for a photo. The Player will always look towards the camera. This is the only mode that allows for crouching, in order to pose with smaller Villagers. It is also the only mode that does not allow for the Critter Companion Pose.
  • In   Mid-range Mode, the Player will attempt to look towards the camera as long as possible (including adjusting camera angle). However, since they will always remain in a stationary position, if the camera is moved behind them, they will continue to face forward.
  • In   Long-range/Free Camera Mode, the Player will not look towards the camera. This is the only mode that allows for zooming and repositioning the camera.

  Poses

Selfie mode has 3 optional Poses that can be applied to an Avatar prior to a Photo's capture. Critter Companion Pose is not available in Selfie Mode.

Mid-range and Long-range/Free Camera mode have 4 optional Poses that can be applied to an Avatar prior to a Photo's capture.

Critter Companion Poses

Critter Companion Pose ( ) is only available if a critter Companion is equipped and the Player is currently outdoors.[1] The below images demonstrate the default position of the Avatar when Companion Pose is chosen with different Companion types selected.

  1. As of Update 8, Companions can also be brought indoors by doing the following steps: While outdoors, equip a Companion from the Wardrobe menu. Go into a Player House. The Companion will not immediately be visible. Open the Wardrobe menu, then exit it. The Companion should now appear.

  Expressions

There are 7 optional Expressions that can be applied to an Avatar prior to a Photo's capture.

  Filters

There are 8 optional Filters that can be applied to a Photo prior to its capture.
