Daily Discussions are conversations that can be had once a day with Villagers in the Valley. One conversation prompt at a time will randomly be offered to select whenever interacting with a Villager. Leaving the interaction and returning may cause a new topic to appear, but not all topics seem to shuffle on any given day, or are available under all circumstances (e.g. some are only available during rain, or after certain quest completions). Only one Daily Discussion can be had with each Villager per day, and the conversation prompt will disappear until the daily reset at 5:00 am local time.
Having a discussion counts towards the rotating Dreamlight Duty "Have a daily discussion.", and the Friendship Dreamlight Achievements "Have Daily Discussions!" (x1, x50, x100, x500, x1000).
The Sword in the Stone
Merlin
Did you hate the Middle Ages?
It's rather pleasant to be living in an era with so many modern conveniences.
Magic is useful, but pales before the wonder of indoor plumbing.
Tell me, Player, what is your favorite invention?
→ Airplanes.
Magnificent machines! Ahh, to fly through the sky like a bird without all those itchy feathers.
→ I agree with you... indoor plumbing.
It's a crowd pleaser, that is certain.
→ Cell phones.
Yes, those little connected boxes. They do seem more useful than pigeons... And unlike owls, they rarely talk back.
Do you have a question?
Player, do you know the distinction between Dark and Light Magic?
→ I do.
So, you already understand the nature of magic? Very good.
→ I don't.
It's a simple difference, really. Light Magic is performed for others. |
Dark Magic is performed for yourself. Dark Magic is not necessarily evil, but is more easily turned to evil. |
Now tell me: Which calls to you? Light Magic or Dark Magic?
→ Light Magic.
Light Magic. An altruistic choice. And one that will serve you well in your quest to restore the Valley.
→ Dark Magic.
Dark Magic can be powerful and compelling, but must be managed carefully.
→ Both.
A wise answer. Balance is difficult, but important.
Got any advice? [Added 1.3]
Player, have you noticed all the hidden treasures scattered about the Village?
Someone has left countless chest containing all sorts of valuable things. Vestments, furnishings, money...
It's quite a mystery as to who might have left them.
→ Maybe they're from before the Forgetting?
That would be the most logical assumption, yes. |
Of course, just because something's logical doesn't mean it works that way here. |
→ Maybe they just... appeared there.
An intriguing suggestion. Perhaps the Valley itself is trying to provide us with gifts.
In any case, some of the treasures are better hidden than others.
I suggest making a thorough investigation of the Valley. You never know where you might find something useful.
Have you ever time-traveled?
I have traveled extensively through time, Player. I've visited the past, and I remember a great deal of the future.
→ That sounds confusing.
Well, it gives me a unique perspective. And makes me an extremely valuable advisor.
→ That sounds useful.
Well, it gives me a unique perspective. And makes me an extremely valuable advisor.
→ Can I learn to time travel?
Player, I do not believe in impossibility. So I will say merely that it is improbable.
Let's do something fun!
Player... Now, I know you're not a wizard, but have you ever heard of a Wizards' Duel?
→ Yes.
Then you know how it works. |
My last bout with Madam Mim... well, it... it was a bit of a grudge match, you might say. We needn't be so brutal. |
→ No.
Well, it's a classic battle of wits, where each player takes turns changing into different things. |
The goal is to defeat the other player's form! |
Since you can't change forms, we'll just say the names of what we WOULD change into. And let's stick to animals, shall we?
Here, I'll start... I choose the form of a tortoise!
→ Raccoon.
A reasonable choice... A raccoon might be able to prey on a young tortoise. |
But I assure you I am an old, venerable tortoise and quite immune to your raccoon attacks. |
I win this duel. |
→ Rabbit.
A rabbit? Do you intend to challenge tortoise-me to a race? |
Well, I know a fable that will tell you how that goes. Heh-heh. I win. |
→ Elephant
Seems a bit extreme, but I suppose in a contest of brawn an elephant would win against a tortoise.
Then I shall become a mouse and terrify your elephant.
→ Cat.
Yes, that is a classic response. Cat catches mouse.
Then I will make the classic response in turn and transform into a dog.
→ Wolf.
Hmph. Wolf and dog. One is a descendant of the other, so the forms are quite close. I shall declare this contest a draw.
→ Human.
Very clever! Humans are indeed animals. And they've domesticated almost every dog on the planet! |
An astute response. I concede the game to you, Player. You win! |
→ Dragon.
Ah! No creatures of legend! That is against the rules... I did tell you that part, didn't I? |
Well either way, there is no rule-bound response to dragon, so our little contest is over. |
→ Dog.
Hmph! Any mouse worth his salt can evade a dog. No, I think I've won this one.
→ Robot.
A robot is not an animal. I win by default!
- Something wrong? [Added 1.3]
Something wrong? [Added 1.3]
Now, I must say, something is perplexing me, Player.
Clearly, not all the laws of physics apply here in Dreamlight Valley.
From the way you're able to cross between worlds, it appears space and time here are merely strong suggestions... not ironclad laws.
Yet other things remain immutable. Take gravity, for instance. What goes up still invariably comes down!
→ I wish it didn't. I'd love to fly.
TODOResponseToAnswerWouldLoveToFly
→ It's weird. Maybe we should run some tests.
Ah-ha! A fine idea indeed. |
Er... just don't throw anything too valuable from anywhere too high, all right? |
→ Maybe the laws of physics only work if we believe they do.
A fascinating idea! |
Perhaps if we could get all the Villagers to try NOT to follow the law of gravity anymore, it would disappear! |
No, no, no. That's preposterous. How would that even be possible? Never mind me. |
In any case, it seems that we are bound together by something much greater than gravity. I've a theory that it's friendship, but I'm still investigating.

What small discoveries will you make today, Player?
→ Well, I'm talking to you.
TODOResponseToAnswerWellI'mTalkingToYou
→ I don't know.
How exciting! Not knowing quite what will happen next. The thrill of discovery!
→ Yeah!
TODOResponseToAnswerYeahUncertainty
→ Maybe?
TODOResponseToAnswerMaybeUncertainty
→ It actually makes me nervous.
Well, being anxious is perfectly understandable. Just don't let it thwart your curiosity. |
One must be ready for uncertainty before one can thrive in it. |
→ Small discoveries? What do you mean?
Well, anything can be an opportunity for discovery, if you have the proper attitude.
For example, a trip to Goofy's Stall. Who knows what one will discover in his inventory today?
→ That doesn't sound very exciting.
TODOResponseToAnswerGoofy'sStallNotExciting
→ EPIC APPLE VS. PEAR DILEMMA.
Goodness, you're certainly getting into the spirit of things.
→ Being around Goofy is always full of surprises.

What are you doing today? [Added 1.3]
Player, just in time! I've spent the morning making a close study of the Night Thorns around the Village.
player
What kind of a study?
Well, I enchanted one so it would get up and walk around.
→ Uh... why?
[continue to next line]
→ How fascinating!
[continue to next line]
→ You WHAT?!
[continue to next line]
I wanted to understand its motivations. With the gift of locomotion we can see what it does when not tied to the earth. What it CHOOSES to do.
player
... And what did it do?
Leapt across the table and assailed me, of course.
Nasty things. Evidently they really do harbor ill intent towards us.
→ Merlin! You could have been hurt!
[continue to next line]
→ It's amazing the things you'll do in the pursuit of knowledge.
[continue to next line]
Oh, a little danger is worth it, as long as we learn something.
player
And what did we learn...?
Not to enchant Night Thorns, of course.
You had a question?
Tell me, Player... what do you think is the most important quality for being a good leader?
→ Pulling a sword from a stone.
Heh-heh. Yes, I see you know how to play to your audience. But Arthur could never have done that if he didn't inherently have the quality of compassion!
→ Taking care of people.
Yes! That is the very essence of leadership! Caring for the people that you lead.
→ Being awesome.
Awesome? Hmph. But for what purpose are you being "awesome"?
→ To do good.
Yes! That is the very essence of leadership! Having a true purpose to care for the people that you lead.
→ To feel awesome.
You, my friend, have a lot to learn.
WALL-E
WALL-E
Do you have a question?
Yoo-hoo! Uhh...
player
What is it, WALL-E? You have a question?
player
Hmm. He's pointing at...
→ Me.
player
Do you want to know more about me, WALL-E?
player
What should I tell you...
→ I'm a human! You've met humans before.
→ I'm in charge of the Valley.
Whoa!
→ I like long walks on the beach.
Whoa!
→ My hands.
player
Those are my hands, WALL-E.
Hmmm...
player
Yeah, they're not like yours.
→ Mine aren't made of metal.
Whoa!
→ Look how many fingers I have!
Whoa!
→ These little things are called fingernails.
Whoa!
→ My clothes.
player
These are my clothes, WALL-E.
Huh?
player
How do I explain clothes...?
→ They protect my body.
Whoa!
→ They keep me warm.
Whoa!
→ They're super stylish.
Whoa!

Di-rec-tive?
player
You're looking for something to do?
Ee-ah.
player
Oh? Are you bored? Can you even get bored?
player
Hm... maybe you could...
→ ...do some gardening.
Oh!
→ ...mine some rocks.
Oh!
→ ...sit back and relax.
Huh?
player
Oh... uh... you know. Relax. Like...
→ ...listen to music.
Da-da-da-da-da-da-dah-dah-dah!
→ ...read a book.
Oooh!
→ ...go for a walk.
Huh?
player
Oh. I guess you don't "walk." Uh, go for a "roll"?
WALL-E!
Got something to show me?
Oh! Oh!
player
WALL-E's showing me something. It's a...
→ Sandwich.
player
That's a sandwich, WALL-E. Where did you find that?!
Uhh...
→ A kind of food. Like what Remy makes.
Ooh!
→ Not really relevant to you.
Ooh!
→ Delicious! Is this pastrami?
Huh...?
player
Right... you wouldn't know what pastrami is. Don't worry about it.
→ Light Bulb.
player
That's a light bulb, WALL-E. Did you unscrew that from somewhere...?
player
A light bulb is...
→ A little round thing that gives off light.
Ooh!
→ Something that uses power. Like you!
Ooh!
→ Delicate. Be careful with it!
Ooh!
→ Leaf.
player
That's a leaf, WALL-E. A very nice leaf.
Huh?
player
Well, a leaf is...
→ Very common in the forest.
Ooh!
→ A tiny part of a tree.
Ooh!
→ Like a tree's hair. Only it all falls out once a year.
Ooh!
How are you?
WALL-E!
→ I don't know what you're saying!

Uhh... |

EVE-ah! |

No.

→ But it's a start.
Whoopee!
→ I'll never understand you.
Aww...
→ I'm gonna guess what you're saying!
→ You want to be best friends!
Whoopee!
→ You want to go swimming!
...
→ It was Belle in the library with a candlestick!
Huh?!

[Response to previous question]
→ I got it!
Whoopee!
→ This could use more work at another time.

Ooh!

Yes, I DO wake up looking this good. I don't think your human brains could handle me looking any better.

What--? Sorry, I got distracted for a minute.

Oh, haha, nothing, nothing!

What are you up to? [Added 1.3]
Hey, Player. Anything I can help with around here?
player
Hmmm... let me think... what do I need help with...
→ You could harvest some crops.
... Like pull some vegetables outta the ground? |
Easy! Consider it done. |
→ You could mine some gems.
... Like break some rocks and see if anything shiny pops out? |
Easy! Consider it done. |
→ You could catch some fish.
Fish, huh? Sure. I could team up with Moana and bring you back a lot of fish. |
Like more fish than you've ever seen before! |
And that's a Maui promise. |
You look like you have a question.
Player! Got a question for you. Which of these do you think is the BEST animal to turn into...
Sneaky beetle? Fearsome shark? Or awesome, powerful, giant hawk?
→ Definitely the hawk.
Good choice! You have power, you have flight. There is literally no downside to being a hawk.
→ I like the idea of sneaking around as a beetle.
It has its uses. But you gotta be careful when you're tiny. A chicken might try to eat you.
→ I personally like shark head.
You like... Oh great. Moana told you about that, didn't she? I make a mistake shape-shifting one time, and I never hear the end of it!

Have you noticed anything interesting in the seas around the Beach?
I found lots of little islands. But there's something strange about this place.
Whenever I try to go back and find the same island twice... it's gone.

TODOResponseToAnswerMaybeNavigatedWrong

→ Maybe... I don't know. Dreamlight Valley is weird
You're right. It is. |
I just wonder if it's weird in a way that I can figure out, and use that to help us. |
Let's talk about nature.
Ever since I was a little girl, I could feel the ocean calling to me.
Is there a place in nature that makes you happiest?
→ It's hard to decide. I love nature!
That's great! For me, it's definitely the ocean. Even if sometimes I have a hard time figuring out what it wants.
But if you HAD to choose, what's your favorite place in nature?
→ I love the forest.
Really? I'd love to learn more about the forest. I've seen so many new trees just in the Village!
→ I love the ocean.
It's incredible, right? So beautiful and yet so wild. I could never live away from the water.
→ I love the mountains.
I've seen the mountains here in the distance, but I haven't been there yet. I bet the view is amazing!
→ I like the indoors best!
Really? What do you like to do indoors?
→ I like to read books.
Interesting... I'd love to know more about that. You'll have to show me sometime!
→ I like to cook.
Well, if you ever want to cook for me, I'd be okay with that. Being out on the water always makes me hungry!
→ I play video games.
I'm sorry, I don't know what that is. But it sounds interesting.
Tell me about food on Motunui?
Do you ever think about coconuts? I mean, REALLY think about them?
→ Yes.
You do?! Oh... Well, what do you think of coconuts?
→ They're kind of boring.
That's what I think! Don't get me wrong; I'm grateful for coconuts. But a person can't live on only coconuts. |
A person needs to explore, and find out who she is! ... Wait, you know I was just using coconuts as a metaphor, right? |
→ No.
Well, my dad does. A LOT.
And coconuts are definitely useful! We use the fibers and leaves. We drink the water and eat the meat.
But there's more to life than coconuts, right?
→ Right.
Thank you! Don't get me wrong; I'm grateful for coconuts. But a person can't live on coconuts alone. |
A person needs to explore, and find out who she is! ... Wait, you know I was just using coconuts as a metaphor, right? |
→ No, only coconuts.
Okaaaay... You'd really like my dad.
→ I'm allergic.
You're allergic to coconuts? Wow, that must be really hard. On Motunui, almost everything is made from coconuts! |
I guess you can eat fish, though? I hope you like fish. |
What's on your mind? [after Coconut ingredient unlocked]
Now that we have coconuts in the Valley, I hope everyone gets a lot of use out of them.
They're pretty good for just about anything.
→ Coconut soup.
Mm! I'd need to catch some fish, but coconut milk can make a delicious soup.
→ A coconut helmet.
You know, on our journey together, Maui and I faced off with some tiny scavengers called the Kakamora. They use coconuts as armor.
→ Nets out of the fibers!
Yes! Wait -- I think I taught you that one.
You look a little down.
When I miss Gramma Tala, I go to the ocean shore. She loved to dance in the shallows.
What do you do when you miss someone?
→ I tell stories about them!
That's really smart. We tell lots of stories on Motunui. Gramma Tala was an amazing storyteller.
→ What kinds of stories did she tell?
All kinds. But her favorite was about our history. How Maui stole the heart of Te Fiti and about the demon who tried to get it back! Some of my friends used to get scared, but I was just excited.
→ Do YOU tell stories now?
I do! My favorites are the scary ones about the Realm of Monsters! Not that I want to scare anyone. Unless they like that!
→ Did you have a favorite story?
I do. It's about how Gramma Tala came to me when I lost my way. She really helped.
→ I call my friends to hang out with them.
I have a lot of people to talk to, too. But Gramma Tala was... different. She really understood me.
→ What did you like best about her?
She didn't care if people thought she was different. She was just so much... herself.
→ Do you think you're like her?
I hope so. I try to follow my heart. I think she did that too.

Is running a restaurant as easy as cooking?
So, it turns out that running a restaurant is a lot different than cooking.
→ It is?
[continue to next line]
→ That makes sense.
[continue to next line]
→ Aren't they the same thing?
[continue to next line]
When you're cooking, you can focus on just the food. But a restaurant... is an entire experience! You have to decorate the space...
...manage the customers, order supplies, shop for ingredients... It's a lot of work.
→ Do you need help?
Actually, I'm okay. You already help me a lot, Player. And I really appreciate it.
→ Is it worth it?
Absolutely! It's completely worth it.
→ Maybe you should take a break.
No way! I love the work.
Having my own restaurant lets people experience my cooking. And watching them enjoy my food... there's nothing like it.
Let's talk about flavor!
Player, do you prefer savory things or sweet things?
→ Savory.
Good choice. That gives you an extremely wide variety of flavor profiles to enjoy.
Okay, do you enjoy salty, savory things? Or fermented things like cheeses? Or spicy stews?
→ Salty.
Got it. I have to be careful not to make meals too salty. |
But a touch of salt improves almost any savory meal. |
→ Fermented.
I agree. I hate to be a cliché, but I am INCREDIBLY fond of aged cheese.
→ Spicy stews.
Excellent! On a cold day, there's nothing better than a spicy, savory stew.
→ Sweet.
A sweet tooth, huh? Well, I've been getting more interested in desserts lately.
Do you like pure sweetness? Or maybe sweet and sour? Or fruity sweets?
→ Pure sugar.
Then you might like puff pastry with powdered sugar. I'll keep that in mind.
→ Sweet and sour.
Two flavors that complement each other amazingly! I'll keep that in mind.
→ Fruity.
Lots of desserts get their sweetness from fruit. It's a very natural source of sugar.
Tell me more about your job!
Do you know how many different kinds of cooks there are?
You've got sous chefs, sauciers, pastry chefs... The list goes on!
→ What's a sous chef?
Oh, a sous chef is very important! They're responsible for the kitchen when the chef's not around.
A sous chef has to know how everything works.
→ That sounds hard.
It is, so you need someone who's extremely qualified.
→ I bet I could do that.
You've already done it!
When you were in Paris, you were my sous chef!
→ What's a saucier?
Just what it sounds like! They're a chef who's entirely in charge of sauces.
→ I love sauces!
You should!
→ That doesn't sound very important.
Oh, but it is! Sauces can add a finishing touch, or infuse an entire dish with flavor.
A good sauce can make or break a dish.
→ Do pastry chefs only make pastries?
Yes. But there's no such thing as "only" a pastry. Pastries are very important.
Dessert is a customer's final experience with the restaurant.
→ A last chance to make a good impression.
Exactly. You get it.
→ I love dessert.
You and most of Paris! Which is why pastry chefs are so important.
What's up? [Added 1.3]
Y'know, Player, our senses of taste and smell are very connected to our memories.
I was just talking to Merlin about this. Being a chef is a bit like... magic. You can bring all those old memories back for people.
I bet you can think of lots of smells that would be like stepping through a portal in time.
→ Buttered popcorn...
TODOResponsetoAnswerButteredPopcorn
→ Baked cookies...
TODOResponsetoAnswerBakedCookies
→ Old gym socks...
Uh... maybe that memory is better left forgotten.
Where did you learn to cook?
Have you ever heard of Auguste Gusteau?
→ Yes.
Of course you have! He was possibly the greatest chef ever.
→ No.
Well, Gusteau is an amazing chef! And my idol.
→ Isn't he dead?
Well, yeah, he is. But while he was alive, he was an amazing chef.
I learned so much from him. About good food, savoring everything, and being brave.
→ Good food?
Yes! He used to say: "Good food is like music you can taste, color you can smell!" |
Eating is a full body experience. You have to engage all the senses! |
→ Savoring everything?
Yes! He used to say, "There is excellence all around you! You need only be aware to stop and savor it." |
So I always try to stop and savor everything. |
→ Being brave?
Yes! You have to be brave to be a great cook. You've got to try things that may not work, be willing to fail. |
"Anyone can cook, but only the fearless can be great." |
At least, that's what Gusteau said. |
Where do you get your ingredients? [Added 1.3]
Player, did you know that when it comes to fresh ingredients, Chez Remy is the first Goofy-to-table restaurant?
player
Goofy-to-table...?
Yep! Goofy's Stall provides me with all the freshest ingredients.
Of course, I have to import some rare items through Mr. McDuck.
Which can be a bit expensive...
→ It's worth it for quality ingredients.
You're right! Of course. |
The price is worth it to create a world-class culinary experience. |
→ Maybe you could work out a better deal with Mr. McDuck?
But I'm just a restaurateur. What I know is food and the people who eat it. |
Mr McDuck's a world-class businessman. He'll start telling me about tariffs and import fees and supply chain issues... |
I bet if I tried to cut a better deal with him, I'd just end up paying twice as much! |
→ Running a restaurant seems complicated.
It is. But at the end of the day, it's also simple. |
You either make a meal that someone loves... or you don't. |
The rest of it doesn't matter. |
You seem preoccupied...
Hey, Player. I've been thinking...
→ What about?
About cooking. Of course, I'm always doing that...
→ A dangerous pastime.
Yeah. That's what my brother always says.
But this time I was thinking about the Night Thorns and how we need to get rid of them.
So... what if I found a way to cook them?
→ I think they're poisonous.
You can cook some poisonous things in a way that makes them safe to eat. But I guess that would be too dangerous to try. I better give it some more thought.
→ I think they're mystically dangerous.
Mystical, huh? That sounds a little beyond me. Guess I better not mess with the Night Thorns.
→ I think they'd taste bad.
You'd be surprised at how bad some raw ingredients can taste. But sauté them, add a little garlic, and they can totally transform.

Do you have a question, Ariel?
You're a human, Player. What would you say your favorite human thing is?
→ Probably fire.
Before I saw it, I was so curious about it. I know it can be helpful and also hurtful. What do you like about it?
→ It's warm and cozy.
Mmm. That does sound nice.
→ It's bright and beautiful.
It is! And it's warm too.
→ It's useful.
Yes! It provides light and heat, and I know humans like to cook their food over it.
If I'm on land when it gets cold, I like being near a warm fire.
→ Shoes are nice.
Oh. When I wore them, they pinched a little. Why do you like shoes so much?
→ They protect my feet.
Oh, I guess that makes sense. The water doesn't hurt my feet, but I suppose there are things on land that would if I didn't wear shoes.
→ They make me taller.
Really?! I didn't know shoes could do that.
→ Mine look cool.
Let me see... Oh, you're right. Your shoes are so neat!

I would have trouble choosing, too. But please do try. At least tell me one you like a lot. [reprompt]

Hello, Player. Do you have a question for me?

→ How many merpeople are there?
Oh my gosh, I don't know! Just in Atlantica, there's more than I can count.
→ Do you get tired swimming all the time?
Well, I do get tired. But I'm not sure if it's because I'm swimming or just because I've been doing a lot.
→ What's the biggest fish you've ever seen?
Well, I've seen some pretty big whales. But fish... I guess I'd have to say a whale shark, which is actually a fish, not a whale. Isn't that confusing?
- Is living here any fun? [Added 1.3]
Let's talk about you.
I have an idea, Player! Let's see how much we know about each other.
It can be a game! I'll start...
I'm the daughter of the king of the ocean. What's my father's name?
→ King Triton.
That's right! Okay, the next question is a little more difficult...
→ Poseidon.
No. My father's name is King Triton. / Maybe you know the answer to this question: How many sisters do I have?
→ The Tuna King.
- giggle* I'm not a tuna, Player. I'm a mermaid. My father's name is King Triton. / Maybe you know the answer to this question: How many sisters do I have?
How many sisters do I have?
→ You're an only child.
No, I have six older sisters: Aquata, Andrina, Arista, Attina, Adella and Alana. But that was a tough one. / I promise the next question is easier!
→ You have six sisters.
Yes! I have six older sisters: Aquata, Andrina, Arista, Attina, Adella and Alana. / Wow, you won't have any problem with the next question!
→ You have two brothers: Flounder and Sebastian.
No, Flounder and Sebastian are my friends. I have six older sisters: Aquata, Andrina, Arista, Attina, Adella and Alana. / I promise the next question is easier!
I have a collection of gizmos and thingamabobs and all sorts of stuff. Do you know what the things in my collection have in common?
→ They are things found on land.
You're right! I think human stuff is very interesting. OR [3/3] You're right again! I think human stuff is very interesting.
→ They're coral.
No, there's a lot of coral in the ocean. It would kind of be like collecting sand. I collect human stuff. I think it's very interesting.
→ Shark teeth, of course.
Oh no! That would be too dangerous. I collect human stuff. I think it's very interesting.
[0/3] Well, you've only gotten one answer right so far, but let's see how you do on the next one. OR [1/3] You only got one answer right so far, but let's see how you do on the next one. OR [2/3] Okay, two out of three is very good! Let's see if you can answer the next question! OR [3/3] Okay, let's see if you can answer the next question...
What did Ursula want from me when I asked her to give me human legs?
→ Your fins.
[0/4] Oh, I'm sorry, Player. She did give me legs, but she asked for my voice in return. / Now there's only one question left. What's the name of the human I saved from drowning? OR [1/4, 2/4]Oh, I'm sorry, Player. She did give me legs, but she asked for my voice in return. Are you ready for the next one? [TODO-verify 2/4] OR [3/4] Oh, I'm sorry, Player. She did give me legs, but she asked for my voice in return. Are you ready for the next one? / What's the name of the human I saved from drowning? [asks same question twice]
→ Your father's trident.
I'm sorry. She wanted my voice. / Now there's only one question left. What's the name of the human I saved from drowning?
→ Your voice!
[1/4] You got it! That's one right answer so far. Let's see if you can get this last one... OR [2/4, 3/4]Oh my gosh, you're right! Now there's only one question left... OR [4/4] Oh my gosh, you've gotten every answer right! Now let's see if you know this very last one...
What's the name of the human I saved from drowning?
→ Flotsam.
No. That's the name of one of Ursula's horrible eels. I saved Prince Eric.
→ Eric.
Yes! He got hurt saving his dog during a storm. I'm so glad I was there to help.
→ Max.
No. You're thinking of his dog. I saved Prince Eric.
[0/5 correct] Gosh, that wasn't a very big success, was it? I hope we get to know each other better. OR [1/5 correct] Well, you only knew one thing about me, but I hope we get to know each other better! OR [2/5 correct] You do know some things about me! I hope you had fun. OR [3/5 or 4/5 correct] Gosh, you really know a lot about me! I'm glad that we're becoming such good friends. OR [5/5 correct] That's amazing! You know so much about me. That makes me very happy.
Let's talk again soon! I can't wait to learn more about you.
Tell me about your hobbies.
I love to sing. And Sebastian says I'm pretty good at it. Do you like to sing?
→ Yes.
That's fantastic! Tell me, what's your favorite kind of song?
→ Love songs.
Oh, I like love songs too. I used to think they were just pretty. |
But ever since I met Eric, I understand them so much better. |
→ Dance songs.
Oh, I love those too! Sebastian is really good at writing dance songs. He can get the whole ocean dancing!
→ Rock anthems.
Oh, I don't think I've ever heard of those. They must be songs that rockfish sing...
→ No.
Oh. Well, do you enjoy listening to singing?
→ Yes.
That's fantastic! Tell me, what's your favorite kind of song?
→ Love songs.
Oh, I like love songs too. I used to think they were just pretty. |
But ever since I met Eric, I understand them so much better. |

→ Rock anthems.
Oh, I don't think I've ever heard of those. They must be songs that rockfish sing...
→ No.
Oh, I understand. Well, I hope you have other things that you enjoy. Like maybe... dancing or art. |
I saw a puppet show once. Maybe that's it! Maybe you love puppet shows! |
→ Badly.
Oh, I don't think anyone truly sings badly if they enjoy it. |
That's the most important thing about singing. Having fun! |
What are you thinking about?
I've always been so curious about the human world. And I just realized...
You might be curious about my underwater world!
Is there anything you'd like me to tell you about?
→ What's the deepest you've ever dived?
Well, I've explored an underwater trench. It was very dark and very cold.
→ What's it like being friends with fish?
I guess it's the same as being friends with humans. All fish are different but most of them are friendly.
→ How do you breathe?
Oh! I don't know. I just do! I can breathe the water like we can both breathe in the air.
What's up?
Where would you most like to go exploring, Player?
→ The forests.
Oh, I'd love to do that too! What do you like about the forest?
→ They're dark and green.
Hmmm...I've been in kelp forests like that.
→ They're full of tiny critters!
That sounds like the ocean... except we have schools of fish.
→ Sometimes there are scary witches.
Oh, the ocean has those too.
→ The tundra.
That sounds so interesting! What do you like about the tundra?
→ It's nice and cold.
Brrr. I wonder if it's as cold as the trench near Atlantica.
→ There's so much snow.
I'd like to see that. It snows over the ocean sometimes. |
My father took me very far north once, and there was ice on the water! |
→ There are gorgeous mountains.
We have mountains underwater, too! |
But you swim down them instead of climb up them. |
→ The desert.
I don't think I've heard of deserts. What do you like about them?
→ They're wide and open.
That sounds like the open ocean. There's room to swim in all directions.
→ They're warm and sunny.
That sounds nice. I like going to the surface to feel the sun.
→ There are lions!
I wonder if they're like the sea lions we have in the ocean. Sea lions can be very silly.

Player, does anyone ever drink from the Wishing Wells in the Valley?
→ Yes, I imagine some Villagers do.
TODOResponseToAnswerIImagineYes
→ I don't know. Why?
Well, I always try to avoid them when surfacing in the Village, so I don't startle anyone. |
I'll keep avoiding them... just in case. |
→ I hope not. They're MAGIC Wells.
player
It'd be very dangerous.
player
And kind of weird. I use them to travel.
Oh, then it might be dangerous to swim in them too.

I'll keep on avoiding them then. Thank you, Player.

Any deep thoughts to share with me today? [Added 1.3]
Hey, Player. I had a thought -- you know forks?
→ Like, the cutlery?
Yes. Forks, as in cutlery.
→ Yes. I am aware of forks.
Sorry, that was a silly question. Of course you're aware of forks.
→ You mean "dinglehoppers"?
Ha! Yes. Exactly. I was just thinking...
They have a kind of boring name, don't they? "Fork."
Ariel calls them "dinglehoppers." That's way more fun. Do you think we should change the name?
→ Sounds kind of confusing.
I guess you're right. |
But I still think "dinglehopper" is a great name. |
→ I think you're very in love with Ariel.
Ha. Yeah, I am. |
Maybe changing the name isn't the best idea. |
I just love how excited she gets about dinglehoppers. |
- Any questions for me? [Added 1.3]
Any questions for me? [Added 1.3]
Settle a question for me, Player.
I love sailing big ships. Galleons, with a crew and three masts.
But Moana says there's nothing like skimming the waves in a small canoe.
Which do you prefer? A big ship or a small canoe?
→ Big ships.
TODOResponseToAnswerBigShips
→ Small canoes.
TODOResponseToAnswerSmallCanoes
→ It depends.
I guess you're right. Different kinds of boats work for different things.
My kingdom needs large ships to carry trade cargo.
But Moana's canoe is perfect for navigating between smaller islands.
We're lucky we have both options.
Do you like living here?
I love Dazzle Beach. The salty sea air. The wind blowing in your face! There's nothing like it.
→ I love the ocean.
You do? We're pretty similar then. What's your favorite thing about the sea?
→ The waves.
I understand that. I love crashing over the waves, as long as they aren't crashing over the ship!
→ The salty air.
Yes! There's something about the air near the ocean. It smells so fresh and alive.
→ The mermaids!
Not everyone believes in them, but you and I know they're real. And one of them, at least, is pretty amazing.
→ I get seasick.
Oh, I'm sorry about that. I don't get seasick myself, but I have a friend who does. |
I know it's pretty unpleasant. Well, I hope you can enjoy the ocean from the shore. |
Do you want to talk about anything?
There's this old riddle we used to ask new sailors on our ship. Would you like to hear it?
→ Yes.
Okay, here you go: What do you throw out to use and take back to stop?
→ Trash.
Huh? That's an interesting answer. It's not the one the old sea dogs taught me, though.
→ An anchor.
Yes! That's the answer. Pretty clever, huh?
→ A net.
Huh? That's an interesting answer. It's not the one the old sea dogs taught me, though.
→ No.
Guess you're not a riddle sort of person. That's okay.
Got a question for me? [Added 1.3]
Player, have you ever seen a dolphin?
→ I have!
Hey, that's good luck for you!
→ I haven't.
Oh, I hope you do someday. They're amazing. And good luck!
There's an old sailors' legend that seeing a dolphin means good fortune for a journey.
→ Are there a lot of dolphins around the Valley?
A few. Sometimes I see them while I'm fishing.
→ I didn't know that.
Well, all the crews I've sailed with believe it. I like to think it's true.
→ I love dolphins!
I do too. Seeing them is always really impressive.
- What's on your mind? [Added 1.3]
What's on your mind? [Added 1.3]
Hey, Player, I really love the fishing expeditions I've taken. I get to explore all the waters around the Valley.
I haven't found many other islands yet, but I've seen a lot of reefs and strange fish.
→ What do you need to go exploring?
TODOResponseToAnswerWhatDoYouNeedToExplore
→ Is there anything special out there?
TODOResponseToAnswerAnythingSpecial
→ Is it safe?
Well, I can't be completely sure. And that's part of the fun! Adventure is never guaranteed to be safe. |
Ships are safe in the harbor, but that's not what ships are built for. |
They're meant to sail out and explore. |

Player, just who I wanted to see. I'm in need of a sympathetic ear, dear.

[continue to next line]

I've had it up to here with a certain pointy-hatted, long-white-bearded, know-it-all wizard...
→ Why are you upset with Merlin?
TODOResponseToAnswerWhyUpsetWithMerlin
→ I have no idea who you're talking about.
Do I have to spell it out for you? |
M-E-R-L-I-N. |
Merlin! |
That windbag goody-two-shoes is always lecturing me on the proper uses of magic. As if I need lessons in magical etiquette!
Ugh, now I"ve got myself all in a lather. Just be sure to keep that pompous barnacle away from me.
What are you thinking about?
Oh, Player, it's you. I was just musing over the distant past. Did you know that I used to live in Atlantica? In the palace, in fact.
→ Why did you leave?
It wasn't by choice, you can be sure of that. King Triton, the tyrant, exiled me.
I was banished to waste away in the darkest part of the ocean.
→ That's terrible!
Isn't it? All the world turned against poor innocent me. And what did I do? |
Practically nothing! I only gave the merfolk what they asked for. Is it my fault they didn't like the price? |
→ Why?
Oh, it was over practically nothing! I only gave the merfolk what they asked for. Is it my fault they didn't like the price? |
It was all an excuse. I know Triton was really frightened by my power. |
→ Did you like it there?
Of course! It's a palace! Oh, I miss the comforts. The feasts, the festivals. Servants at my beck and call.
What would you miss if you were driven off and forced to live in the... well, I suppose for you it would be the woods?
→ Ice Cream.
Oh, I've heard of that. A cold, sugary treat, am I right? |
I wonder if anyone here makes it in kelp flavor? |
→ Television.
Hm. I have no idea what that is. Some sort of ludicrous human invention, I suppose.
→ Video games.
I have no idea what that is. But I do enjoy games. Especially when I get to make the rules.
→ Why do you look different?
You mean why am I not a waifish merperson with a dinky little green tail? |
I look different because I AM different, dear. |
Not just different. Better! |

Frozen
Anna
Do you have a question?
What's your favorite kind of sandwich?
→ Egg sandwiches.
Good choice! I especially like them with cheese.
→ Bacon, lettuce, and tomato.
Oooh. That sounds good! I kind of want one of those right now.
→ Hamburger.
Huh. I've never heard of them, but I definitely want to try one!
I've been thinking a lot about sandwiches lately. Sometimes, when you share a love for something fantastic -- like sandwiches -- with a horrible person, it can ruin that thing.
You try to enjoy sandwiches, and you find yourself thinking about that horrible ex-fiancé... err, person. And what do you do then?
→ Stop eating sandwiches.
No! I refuse! Sandwiches are too good to give up!
→ Keep eating sandwiches.
EXACTLY! I WON'T let anyone ruin sandwiches for me!
→ Eat more sandwiches.
EXACTLY! I WON'T let anyone ruin sandwiches for me!
Is there anything you want to ask?
Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to have powers, like Elsa does. If you could have any power, what would you choose?
→ Flying.
Oh, that would be amazing! Can you imagine soaring through the sky free as a bird? It would have made following Elsa up that mountain a lot easier.
→ Shapeshifting.
Oooh. You could turn into a bird! Or a squirrel. Or a reindeer!
But I shouldn't choose. It's your power. What would you turn into?
→ A bird.
That's really smart! You can shapeshift, AND you get the power of flight at the same time!
→ A reindeer.
Now that would be fun! You could gallop across the snowy meadows with the other reindeer and you wouldn't even need boots!
→ A squirrel.
Yes! You could climb any tree you want and never tear your clothes or scrape your knees!
→ Ice powers.
Having observed ice powers up close, I can say they're pretty amazing.
Let's talk food!
Player! You have to tell me -- what's your favorite food?
→ Pizza.
Pizza? What's that? Because it sounds delicious. |
Maybe Remy could make me a pizza so I can try it. |
→ Fresh bread.
Mmmm. Fresh bread, right from the bakers. Good choice!
→ Chocolate.
Mmmm! Good choice! I LOVE chocolate.
Ooh, but what I'm really hungry for right now is krumkake! It's a waffle cookie shaped like a cone.
And you can put anything inside of it!
Fruit, ice cream, chocolate -- change the filling and it becomes a completely new dessert!
Elsa
Do you have a question? [talking to people]
You spend a lot of time talking to people, don't you? I still find that difficult sometimes.
→ Just say what you feel.
Well, I am getting better at understanding what I feel. I suppose that's a good step.
→ It is.
Thank you, Player. That helps.
→ If they don't like what you say, that's their problem.
I don't think that's a very responsible approach.
→ Just start.
Well, that's what Anna and Olaf do. They just start talking. It's almost like they jump off a cliff into words. |
It's kind of impressive and...really brave. |
Elsa... have you ever considered getting into fashion design?
What do you mean?
player
You've made so many beautiful dresses!
→ I love the shimmery blue dress you made.
Ha! I enjoyed that one. It was important to me to wear something new. |
Though thinking back on what I did back then is embarrassing. |
→ I like the white dress with the diamond pattern.
Thank you. I was very proud of that one.
→ The dresses you wear around Arendelle are so pretty.
Oh, I don't make those. Those are normal dresses. Other people sew them. I do commission them, though.
I enjoy thinking about the cut and shape of clothing, what it means and how it makes people feel.
When I was young, I used it to control myself. My gloves.
→ I'm glad you got rid of those.
I am too. They felt necessary at the time, but they were painful to wear. It's good to feel the breeze on my fingertips.
→ You wore those to keep Anna safe.
I did. I felt so guilty for so long. But I was a child. It's silly to blame a child for an accident.
→ Now you're older.
I am. And I know how to trust myself.
Tell me about your powers.
Ice and snow. They come in so many shapes and textures. Hard ice. Soft flurries. Frost. Blizzards.
They're all distinct. They feel different when I control them.
→ What does ice feel like?
Ice is sharp and clear. It's very hard... it never bends, but it can curve. I enjoy working with ice. It's precise.
→ What does snow feel like?
Snow is light and airy. It's made up of so many little flakes. That can make it harder to control. I'm keeping track of many parts.
→ Does it feel different to create life?
Yes. It's strange... it's like there's this warmth within the ice. But it's not normal warmth. It's cold warmth. And it's aware. |
You can probably tell... it's hard to describe. |
You look preoccupied. [Added 1.3]
Player. I've been thinking about Olaf.
→ What about him?
About what he represents.
→ He's a sweetheart.
I'm also very fond of him.
→ He's annoying.
He can be a little exasperating at times.
He was the first living being I made out of snow. I've started being more careful about making life.
→ That's smart.
I hope so. I just feel responsible for anything I create.
→ No! Make an army of tiny snowmen!
I kind of already did. I had a cold. And I accidentally made snowmen when I sneezed. |
There are a lot of them. And I feel responsible for all of them. Probably no more living snowmen for a while. |
Kristoff
Do you need my advice on anything?
I'm hoping you can settle something for me...
What would you think if someone told you they'd gotten engaged to someone they'd just met that day?
→ Terrible idea.
Exactly! The first day you meet someone, they're practically a stranger! Thanks. I was pretty sure I wasn't alone in thinking that.
→ True love!
What?! You can't really get to know someone in just one day.
What if he's secretly plotting to steal your kingdom? What if you hate the way he picks his nose?
→ That's a good point.
It is a good point! Thank you.
→ Doesn't matter. True love.
No. I'm sorry. You can't just say "true love" like it answers all the questions!
→ Ew.
All men do it. Sorry.
Is everything okay?
Is talking about feelings as hard for you as it is for me? Why is that?
→ Because they're important.
I guess that makes sense. You don't want to mess up something that important. |
And it's easy to get confused about feelings. |
→ Because they're scary.
Wait -- why would feelings be scary? They can't bite you, like wolves. You can't fall off the side of a feeling and die. |
They just sit inside of you, always there, haunting your every waking moment and changing everything. |
... Yep. You're right. Feelings can be terrifying. |
→ Because they're weird.
You're right, feelings ARE weird. Things were so much simpler when it was just me, Sven and the trolls! |
Simpler... but not as amazing. So I guess feelings are worth it. |
How do YOU talk about feelings, Player?
→ Be honest.
I'm always honest. It's just sometimes the words I use don't end up saying what I really mean. |
Like one time I called Anna crazy for getting engaged to a man she just met. |
That wasn't the right word at all. I should have said "impetuous," or "eager," or "passionate"! Because Anna is all those things, and I love that about her. |
→ Be sensitive.
Yeah, being sensitive isn't really something I learned while climbing mountains and harvesting ice. |
But ever since I met Anna, I've been trying my best. |
→ Just ignore your feelings.
Does that work? I don't know if that's a good idea.
Need any help?
Hey, Player. You know Goofy, right?
→ Yeah! We're friends.
[continue to next line]
→ I know him.
[continue to next line]
→ Who?
You know, Goofy. He runs the market Stall in the Meadow?
player
Of course I know Goofy. I'm just joking around. Why do you ask?
He seems like a nice guy. I'd like to get to know him better. It'd be great to make some more friends around the Village.
Does he have any hobbies I could talk to him about?
player
Hmmm. Goofy likes...
→ ...fishing.
Fishing, huh? I can work with that.
→ ...talking to people.
Oh... I'm not generally a big talker, but I am a good listener. Maybe that'll work.
Thanks, Player.
Something on your mind?
Player, some people think it's weird that I spend so much time in the woods. Do you?
→ Not at all.
Good to know.
→ Yeah, a bit.
Oh, Hmm...
→ It's okay to be weird.
Thanks... I guess everyone's weird in their own way, right?
The forest is just what I'm used to. It's simple there.
Just me and Sven. The trees. The birds. A guy can really think, ya know?
→ That sounds nice.
It is. It's always worked for me.
→ It's where you grew up, right?
Yeah. The forest and Troll Valley. Guess that's why I feel at home there.
→ Just don't stay alone for too long.
I promise I won't. Don't want to lose touch with everyone I care about. And besides, there aren't a lot of carrots in the forest for Sven.
Something wrong?
Player, you've seen those odd-looking, sharp plants, right?
I think they're called Night Thorns.
→ Believe me, I've seen them.
It seems like they're everywhere.
→ They're kinda hard to miss.
It seems like they're everywhere.
→ I have to deal with them constantly.
Sorry. That doesn't sound like fun.
The trolls believe that everything in nature has a purpose.
Do you think we could make something useful out of them?
→ That would be dangerous. They're magic.
Oh, wow. It is not smart to mess with magic.
→ Like what?
Oh, I don't know... tea? Thorny wreaths? Actually...
→ Maybe if we purified them...
That sounds like magic. Which I try not to mess with.
I'll just leave dealing with the Night Thorns to the magic professionals. Mainly you.
What are you up to today?
So, I was thinking of climbing an icy mountain today.
→ That sounds fun.
It is fun. And I like the feeling of accomplishment when I get to the top of a tall mountain. |
I can't wait to look down and see the whole Valley in one glance. |
→ That sounds dangerous.
It can be, but I've been climbing mountains my whole life.
→ Why?
Why does anyone climb a mountain? To get to the top.
I can't wait to look down and see the whole Valley in one glance.
→ That sounds beautiful.
I'm sure it will be. Sights like that really make you understand your place in the world.
→ I bet you'll enjoy that.
I will. I bet it's gonna be incredible.
→ Don't slip!
Don't worry. I'm an expert. I'll be fine.
You seem confused.
Player. Do you think the magic here is strange?
→ Very strange.
Yes! Thank you!
→ I think it's more magical.
Right... because it's magic. But the magical stuff I've seen here is definitely strange.
→ I'm starting to think of it as normal.
Really? Huh. Because the magical stuff I've seen here is definitely strange.
This isn't the kind of magic I'm used to. Some things here just don't make sense to me.
→ Yeah. Me neither.
Phew! I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed.
→ Is it different from the trolls' magic?
Totally different! They're love experts and never confuse things or make you lose your memory.
→ Is it like Elsa's magic?
No. Elsa's magic is ice and snow. Pretty useful stuff, actually, speaking as an ice expert.

Fall is so pretty! I like to think of it as early-winter.
Ooh! I like winter too! In fact, I was born in winter. It's such a good tiem to stay in and get cozy around a fire!
What do you like to do in winter?
→ Go sledding.

TODOResponseToAnswerGoSledding

TODOResponseToAnswerMakeSnowmen

→ Have a snowball fight.

Oh, you should really meet my friend Marshmallow! |
He is excellent at throwing snowballs... and snow butts. |

Got a question?
Player, what does the word "hyperbole" mean?
→ It means something is exaggerated.
TODOResponseToAnswerCorrectDef1
→ It's when a bole is very hyper.
Interesting. I love learning new things!
→ I don't know.

Wow. I thought there wasn't anything that you wouldn't know. |

What does "defenestrate" mean?

TODOResponseToAnswerCorrect2

You are so knowledgeable. Thank you, Player!
→ No clue.

I understand. Even someone as wise as you can't know everything. |
I'll ask some other Villagers. And hey, maybe later I can tell you all the new words I've learned. |
It'll be an eluci-date! |

How's your day going? [stick collection]

Hi, Player. I spent the whole morning collecting all the sticks lying around the Peaceful Meadow.
So I am now the owner of an abundance of sticks!
How many sticks do you have, Olaf...? [presumably should be Player, but is Olaf]
One hundred and thirty-eight.
What do you think I should do with them?
→ Make some chairs.
XXXXXX
→ Give yourself a hundred and thirty-eight arms.

But where would they... |

Oh! Hee-hee-hee! You are so funny, Player! |

Something bothering you?
Merlin is so smart! And he told me that he's a wizard.
Do you think that one day I could be a wizard?
→ I don't know if snowmen can be wizards.
TODOResponsetoAnswerUnsureSnowmenWizards
→ You're already magical.
True. But that's not the same as being a wizard. |
Maybe I should ask Merlin. But... |
→ You could ask Merlin to teach you?
I could, but...
Yesterday, when I asked him my two-hundredth question, he said I should try doing my own research. And then he mumbled something about too many questions and turning into an encyclopedia.
Do you think I could turn into an actual encyclopedia if I ask too many questions?!
→ Absolutely.
TODOResponsetoAnswerAbsolutelyTurnIntoEncyclopedia
→ I think you misunderstood Merlin...
You might be right. I'll go ask him a question about it!
→ *gasp* You're turning into a book right now!
AM I? Where? Oh no! I just asked two more questions! |
I'd better be quiet and hope I get less paper-y. |
Something on your mind?
I've been thinking, Player. WALL-E and I have a lot in common. Do you agree?
player
I guess you do. After all...
→ ...you're both curious about new things.
TODOResponseToAnswerBothCurious
→ ...you're both kind of tiny.
TODOResponseToAnswerBothTiny
→ ...you both make a lot of interesting noises.
That's true. Though I do know more words. Oh, and don't forget...
...we were both brought to life by magic.
→ WALL-E's not magic. He's a robot.
TODOResponseToAnswerWallENotMagic
→ I guess that's kind of true...
TODOResponseToAnswerKindaTrue
→ Does being so similar make you friends?
Well, it does help to have things in common. |
But I think what makes us friends is that we're friends! |
What are you up to?
Player! I am in need of your wisdom.
What's up? [presumably should be Player, but is Olaf]
I want to make a new friend.
And you have the most friends of anyone I know, so you must be an expert.
I was thinking maybe one of the rabbits in the Peaceful Meadow...
player
If you want to make friends with a rabbit in the Meadow, just make sure to...
→ ...run around with them. They like to play.
XXXXXX
→ ...feed them carrots. They love carrots.
XXXXXX
→ ...check back every day to see if the rabbit is around.
[continue to next line]
It might take a few visits before they really start to trust you. [presumably should be Player, but is Olaf]
Oh, the rabbits are shy. I understand.
Thank you for sharing your wisdom, friend.
- You look like you have a question...
- You seem especially happy today.
You seem especially happy today.
You know what one of my favorite things is? Having favorite things!
- gasp* Maybe I have favorite things I don't even know about.
Quick! Player, ask me what my favorite something is!
→ What's your favorite season?
TODOResponseToFavoriteSeason
→ Who's your favorite person?
TODOResponseToFavoritePerson
→ Who's your favorite reindeer?
That's easy. Sven! He tells the best bedtime stories. And he's so good at voices.
Let's do another! Ask me for another favorite thing.
→ What's your favorite animal?
TODOResponseToFavoriteAnimal
→ What's your favorite book?
TODOResponseToFavoriteBook
→ What's your favorite color?
Oh, that's a hard one. There are so many to choose from! |
I'll have to think about this for a while... |
Tangled
Mother Gothel
Anything you need?
Player, you have my attention. Shall I give you some motherly advice?
→ Okay!
Oh, it's so nice to have someone appreciate my kindness! |
Unlike some ungrateful children who will remain unnamed. |
→ You're not my mother.
True, but I give very good advice.
→ Your advice is kind of toxic.
Toxic! Oh, I'm wounded, Player!
I come to you offering nothing but support, and you insult me.
player
- sigh* Fine. Give me some advice.
What would you like advice about, dear?
→ Life.
Well, life is a race, Player. If you're not winning, you're losing. |
And most people are forever losing. You must make sure you win -- always. |
→ Romance.
Oh my advice about romance is simple... |
Don't. |
It's never worth it. You can only depend on yourself. |
→ Reasons I shouldn't leave my tower.
I see. Now you're the one teasing me. I'll remember that.
Do you never tire of looking at yourself?
Ahh, I never tire of looking at my cheekbones. High cheekbones are universally attractive, and mine are particularly fine.
Good bone structure is the foundation of beauty.
→ That's kind of creepy.
Only for those who don't share it, dear.
→ I imagine you like that because it doesn't fade with age.
Very insightful. Now be a dear and never speak to me of age again.
→ Beauty comes from the inside.
People say that, but they never mean it.
- I love taking care of the Valley. [Added 1.3]
I love taking care of the Valley. [Added 1.3]
Ah, Player... It's occurred to me that only you and I have the interests of this Valley at heart; don't you agree?
→ Yes, I do.
TODOResponseToAnswerAgreeGothelCaresValley
→ What makes you think that?
TODOResponseToAnswerInquireGothelCaresValley
→ I think everyone cares for the Valley in their own way.
Perhaps, but how many of them have proof to support their claims? Few or none, I'm sure.
They're all living in their grand Houses, only caring for themselves and their personal whims. Unlike me. Why, I've truly dedicated myself to tending to the Giant Willow.
→ I love the Giant Willow!
TODOResponseToAnswerILoveGiantWillow
→ Why do you look after it?
TODOResponseToAnswerWhyCareForGiantWillow
→ You can always stop, you know...
Then there would be no one to care for the willow I helped you grow. No, Player. I must stay where I am.
And that is proof that only you and I care about what's best for our Valley.
What's wrong?
Player, I'm feeling a bit run-down. Unappreciated. Alone.
Say something to make me feel better.
→ Your hair is so dark and glossy.
I've often thought it's one of my best features.
→ Your dress sense is on point.
It is, isn't it? This is velvet, you know.
→ You're capable and cunning.
Mmm. That's true, I am.
Go on. There must be more.
→ You're absolutely ruthless.
I'll assume you meant that as a compliment. |
Ahh, I feel much better now. Thank you, dear. |
→ You're a strong, independent woman.
I am, aren't I? |
Ahh, I feel much better now. Thank you, dear. |
→ Your skin has very few wrinkles!
Correction, dear -- my skin has NO wrinkles. |
Clearly, your eyesight leaves something to be desired. |
- You know so many things. [Added 1.3]
You know so many things. [Added 1.3]
Player, I feel that I must share a bit of my knowledge of the world, so you have a chance to survive out here on your own...
Now, you must have noticed the flowers growing around the Village. So beautiful and majestic... like me! Ha-ha-ha!
→ I love flowers!
Of course you do. After all, who doesn't? |
You must remember that every part of the Valley is home to one or two specific types of flowers... |
→ What about them?
Well, I know how children are, so I feel it needs to be said... Try not to eat them. It wouldn't be good for you. Also... |
You must remember that every part of the Valley is home to one or two specific types of flowers... |
→ Ugh, flowers...
Player, you really don't have an eye for beauty, do you? |
Oh well, not everyone can appreciate the finer things. |
Still, you should remember that every part of the Valley is home to one or two specific types of flowers... |
Some flowers even grow on the sand of Dazzle Beach. Hydrangeas and Sunflowers to be exact. OR
For example, if you visit my beloved Glade, you'll find all sorts of Marsh Milkweed. White, orange, purple, blue... Almost a rainbow of them. OR
If you feel brave enough to explore the Forgotten Lands, you can gather Impatiens and Nasturtiums. Appropriated named flowers for that ugly place, if you ask me.
You look like you have a question.
Tell me, what do you think magic is, Player?
→ Power.
Oh, you couldn't be more wrong
→ Cheap trickery.
Ha! That skepticism will serve you well. But you're wrong.
→ I'm not sure.
Well, at least you're willing to admit your ignorance.
Magic is simply an advantage.
A tool to be utilized to meet one's goals.
→ That's very cynical.
Perhaps to you. To me, it's merely practical.
→ That's very practical.
Perhaps to you. To me, it's merely practical.
→ I believe there's more to magic than that.
And people will use that belief to take advantage of you.
You look worried.
Player! Did I see a gray hair in my reflection? Look at my hair. Is any of it gray?!
→ No gray hairs.
Oh, what a relief! One must be very careful about one's appearance, you know.
→ You look great!
That's kind of you to say. Of course it's true, but it's still sweet of you to say it.
→ How old are you?
Didn't anyone ever teach you that it's impolite to ask a woman's age? |
And I know you'd never be impolite to me. Isn't that right, dear? |
→ I see a wrinkle.
AHHHH! NO! MY BEAUTIFUL SKIN!
You seem to have a lot on your mind.
Player, good. Let's talk through a purely hypothetical situation.
If you were, say, tracking your wayward daughter through the forest...
How would you convince her to come home?
→ Ask her nicely.
Yes, I'll just ask her politely to stop acting out and sit in her tower like a good girl. |
You've obviously never met a teenager. |
→ Trick her.
Well, of course that's my instinct as well. I'm glad you agree, Player.
→ Let her go.
Never! Rapunzel belongs with me, and NOTHING will ever change that.
Mickey & Friends
Donald Duck
Hello, Donald!
Hiya, Player! Say, who do you think's the best entertainer?
Mickey or me?
→ Mickey.
Aw phooey! Everybody always picks Mickey.
→ You.
Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! Thanks, Player!
→ Me, of course.
Drat! I didn't see that coming.
- How are you today? [Added 1.3]
How do you like your neighbors?
Oh boy. My Uncle Scrooge is already here in the Village.
→ You don't sound thrilled.
Well, Uncle Scrooge and I don't always agree on things.
But he's my family, and you know what that means.
→ You have to stick together.
Yep! He's always there for me when I need him. |
And I'll always be there for him. |
→ Friends are more important.
It's not a competition. My friends AND my family are both important to me.
→ No, I don't.
Well, family's important to me. They're not always perfect, but we always stick together.
→ He's been very helpful.
That's great. But I'd be surprised if he helped you do anything for free.
→ He's kind of greedy.
I'm not sure about that. But he does love his money. He even has a special display case for the first dime he earned!
How is your day going?
- sigh* Why do bad things always happen to me?
→ Because of your attitude!
WHAT?! I don't have an attitude! What makes you think I have an attitude?!
→ Face it, you're grumpy!
Only when I have a reason to be! If everything's going the way I like it, I'm perfectly pleasant.
→ Suuuuurrre you don't.
Sarcasm, huh? |
Well, I only get mad when I have a reason! If everything's going the way I like it, I'm perfectly pleasant. |
→ I'm sorry, Donald.
That's okay. I know I can be grumpy sometimes. But only when things aren't going my way!
→ Look at all the good things around you!
Such as...
→ Your friends!
Aw, you're right. My friends are pretty stupendous!
→ The Village!
Aw, you're right. It's great having all my friends in one place... even Goofy. Heh-heh-heh.
→ Me!
You're right! I AM glad to have a friend like you!
→ What happened this time?
I was reeling in a great big fish when Goofy came by, tripped over my bucket of worms...
Knocked the bait in the water, and scared away all the fish!
A whole day of fishing, and I've got nothing to show for it.
→ I'm sorry, Donald.
Thanks, Player. At least someone cares.
→ Maybe bad things DO always happen to you!
That's what I've been saying! At least someone agrees with me.
→ HA! I wish I saw that.
I guess it was pretty funny. Ha-ha-ha!
- Is something wrong? [Added 1.3]
Is something wrong? [Added 1.3]
Hey, Player, I've been trying to make some good meals...
...but every time I throw stuff in a pot, all I get is crackers.
Crackers, crackers, crackers!
player
Sounds like you need to...
→ ...just keep experimenting.
TODOResponseToAnswerKeepExperimentingCooking
→ ...try some different ingredients.
Of course! I'm not doing anything wrong. It's the ingredients!
→ ...follow the recipes more closely.
What?! You think I don't know how to read a recipe?! No way.
There must be something wrong with the ingredients Goofy sold me.
I'm gonna go give him a piece of my mind!
- What are you up to? [Added 1.3]
What are you up to? [Added 1.3]
Hey, Player, I'm goin' fishin', and I wanna bring a snack in case I get hungry.
What would you take for a fishing snack?
→ Grilled cheese!
Grilled cheese?! That's my favorite! Especially with lots of toppings.
It's easy to make and always delicious.
What do you like on yours?
→ Tomatoes.
TODOResponseToAnswerGrilledCheeseAndTomatoes
→ Mustard.
Yeah, I like mustard, too. Especially the spicy kind!
→ Nothing.
TODOResponseToAnswerPlainGrilledCheese
→ Salad!
Salad? WAK! Salad's not a snack!
→ Salads can be tasty!
TODOResponseToAnswerSaladsCanBeTasty
→ Yeesh, sorry.
Aw, it's okay, Player. I'm just cranky because I'm hungry.
→ Why not eat the fish you catch?
But what if I don't catch anything?
→ Hmm... good point.
TODOResponseToAnswerNoCatch
→ Have some confidence!
You're right! I'm gonna catch of bunch of fish and eat 'em all! If I don't believe in me, nobody will!
- Whatcha thinking about? [Added 1.3]
Why do you look so upset?
Hey! Player! Who do you think you are? I just heard you call me a blockhead!
→ I didn't say that!
You didn't? I could've sworn I heard you say that.
→ I didn't.
Well... okay. I'm sorry. Guess I made a mistake.
→ You misheard.
Hmm... maybe. But I'm gonna keep my eye on you.
→ I called you a nincompoop.
WHY YOU...!!!
→ Donald, calm down. Don't be a hothead.
I'm perfectly calm! Don't say that I'm not calm!!!
First you call me a blockhead, and then you say I'm a hothead?!?!
→ I didn't call you anything!
Even if you didn't the first time, you just called me a hothead! |
~!^$#%@!&?#! |
→ You are clearly angry.
I AM PERFECTLY CALM!!!!!!!!!
→ What a blockhead.
WHAT?!!! Why I oughta...
→ You are a blockhead.
Oh, that's the last straw!!! |
WHAT?!!! Why I oughta... |
You look agitated.
My friends always say I have a bit of a temper, but I don't know what they're talking about.
What do YOU do when you're really mad? Not that I'm asking for any particular reason...
→ I meditate to try to calm down.
Meditate? How do you do that?
→ Close your eyes and breathe deeply... in... out...
... ... ... zzzzzzzzzzz...
→ Stand on your head and spin for three minutes.
Oh, I knew that!
→ I just listen to music and zone out.
I'll try that!
→ I punch a pillow.
That sounds pretty useful. I'm gonna write that down. |
But NOT because I'll ever need to do it! |
→ I yell and flail around.
So do I! Wait, are you making fun of me?!
- You seem excited today! What's up? [Added 1.3]
Goofy
Do you have time to talk?
Gawrsh, Player, you've got a sort of curious look on your face. Do you have a question for me?
→ How do you stay so cheerful all the time?
Well, I'm not always cheerful, but I sure try to be. |
If I'm feelin' down, I try to think about a real good memory of spending time with my friends. That's sure to put a big smile on my face! |
→ Why did you open a Stall?
I sorta just stumbled into it! I was walking down the street with some apples and ran into Uncle Scrooge. He asked how much they were, but I said he could just have one! |
He said I shouldn't be giving' away somethin' for nothing. So, I asked him what I should do instead. |
Then, before I knew it, I'd opened this Stall! |
→ What's your favorite kind of sandwich?
Aw, that's easy. Every sandwich! Today, I'm really lookin' forward to the pickle and peanut butter on rye one I made last night.
- Do you like running your Stall? [Added 1.3]
Do you like running your Stall? [Added 1.3]
Ya know pal, my favorite part of runnin' my Stall is gettin' to spend all day talkin' to folks.
→ Who's your favorite Villager to talk to?
Gawrsh, I like spendin' time with everybody.
But... can ya keep a secret?
→ Yes.
If I had to pick a favorite, it'd be you, Player!
→ No.
TODOResponseToAnswerNoCan'tKeepSecret
→ Don't you get tired?
Nah! I could chat with folks all day.
Carrying all the fruit can be tiring, though. Sometimes I gotta rest my arms, but I can keep talkin'!
→ Is running a Stall complicated?
Not the way I do it. |
Uncle Scrooge makes his shop real complicated, but I try to keep things simple. |
→ Let me know if you ever need help!
I sure will! Thanks, Player!
Is everything okay? [Added 1.3]
Gawrsh, Player, it seems like whenever I go fishing lately, all I catch is Seaweed.
→ UGH, same.
[continue to next line]
→ Where are you fishing?
[continue to next line]
→ Try to aim for the ripples!
[continue to next line]
I've been castin' my line out at the ripples in the Meadow pond, but my luck's been rotten.
Course, now that I think of it, Seaweed isn't so bad. You can make lots of nifty stuff out of it.
Ya know what? I'm gonna go catch more Seaweed right now!
Tell me about your plans for the weekend.
Say, Player, have you ever gone camping before? It's one of my favorite things to do.
→ Absolutely. I love camping!
Gawrsh, that's great! What do you like doin' best when you're camping?
→ Fishing, of course.
Well, whaddaya know, I love fishing, too!
→ Going swimming!
Yeah, swimming's usually the first thing I do once I get to the campsite.
→ Cooking by the fire.
Mmm-mmm! Nothin' beats a good cookout. Especially the marshmallows. A-hyuck!
→ Never. Is it fun?
Gawrsh, it's just about the most fun you can have!
→ Well, I hope you have fun!
Thanks! If ya ever want to try it, I'd love for you to join me.
→ I don't think I'd like that...
Well, you're always welcome to join me if you change your mind!
→ Camping? Like sleeping outside? Ew.
Well, if you ever change your mind, come find me. See ya around, Player!
What are you up to today? [Added 1.3]
Gawrsh, Player, I could use your help. Uncle Scrooge says I should do regular inventory of all my stock to make sure nothing's gone missing.
Got any advice on the best way to do that?
→ Count everything you have in stock.
I could try that... but I don't know how much I started out with in the first place.
So I got nothin' to compare it against.
Sounds like you should count them now and then count them again in a couple of months to check. [presumably should be Player, but is Goofy]
Sure, I could do that.
Hmm... should I count stuff by the piece or by the pound?
→ Beats me. Sounds like a lot of work.
Well, Uncle Scrooge says I've gotta count everything I've got in stock...
...then count it again in a little while and see if they match up.
So you've got to count it all... just so you can count it again later? [presumably should be Player, but is Goofy]
Yep. But should I count stuff by the piece or by the pound?
Apples would be easy to count by the piece, but seeds could take a while. I'll keep thinkin' on it. Thanks, pal!
What's it like to have a Stall here?
It's real inspiring to run a Stall in the same town as Donald's Uncle Scrooge. He's a savvy customer, and an even savvier businessman!
→ Yeah, he's awesome!
Yep, I hope someday I'm as good at business as he is. He's taught me a lot about how to run a Stall.
→ I don't like how miserly he is.
Gawrsh, I think he's just real proud of all the hard work he's done. And he's taught me a lot about how to run a Stall.
→ I don't know him very well.
Then you can take my word for it! Scrooge has taught me a lot about how to run a Stall.
He's even got a motto. Let me see if I can remember it. He says you gotta be smarter than the...
→ ...dummies
Nah. I don't think that's it.
→ ...smarties.
And you gotta be tougher than the...
→ ...toughies.
And you gotta make your money...
→ ...triangle.
Nah. I don't think that's it.
→ ...circular.
Nah. I don't think that's it.
→ ...square.
That's it! That's what Uncle Scrooge always says. Nice remembering, pal!
→ ...hedgehogs.
Nah. I don't think that's it.
→ ...softies.
Nah. I don't think that's it.
→ ...robots.
Nah. I don't think that's it.
What's on your mind? [Added 1.3]
Player, have I got somethin' to tell you! I caught a real funny fish the other day.
Never seen anything like it before. It was all big and puffed up.
→ What was it?
[continue to next line]
→ Sounds cool!
[continue to next line]
→ Bit of a fishy story...
[continue to next line]
Well, I showed it to Merlin, and he said it's called a Fugu fish.
I guess it only swims up near the surface on Dazzle Beach when it's raining.

I tossed it back, but maybe you could try fishing for it next time it rains.
What's up, Goofy? [Added 1.3]
Ya know, Uncle Scrooge is a swell neighbor. He's been giving me lots of advice.
But sometimes I'm not sure what he's talkin' about. When he starts up about dividends and returns on investments, he kinda loses me.
→ It's nice of him to try to help!
You bet it is!
→ You sure he's not trying to sabotage you?
Huh? You mean 'cause we both run stores? I don't think so.
Sure, Uncle Scrooge likes money.
Makin' money, and countin' money, and talkin' about money...
But he's got a great big heart. Some folks don't see that.
→ I agree. Scrooge is great.
He sure is!
→ I think Scrooge is too greedy.
Well, like I said, he does love makin' money. |
But he's also real generous and always helps out his pals. |
→ I don't know Scrooge that well.
Gawrsh, you should get to know him better! |
I bet you two will become friends in no time. |
You look bored.
Gawrsh, Player, you sure do a lot of work around the Village. I'd love to help out more.
Is there anything I can do?
→ Cooking?
Aw, I'm a great cook! Folks especially love my meatballs and how I serve 'em.
I whack 'em towards ya with a ping-pong paddle so you can catch 'em in a bowl! Pretty fun, huh?
player
... Maybe you can do something else. [reprompt]
→ Building things?
I'm great at construction work! Hammering, and sawing, and pouring cement are my specialties.
Though I oughta tell you: There've been a few accidents on some of the jobs I've worked.
Five hundred and thirty six. What're the odds, right?
player
... Maybe you can do something else. [reprompt]
→ Cleaning?
Sure, I'm real good at cleaning. Oh, except for the time the vacuum escaped and got the cat.
And the time I accidentally set the windows on fire by exploding a broom.
player
... Maybe you can do something else. [reprompt]
→ Fishing?
Oh, I go fishing all the time! And I catch lots of fish, too.
I've even got a signature cast I can show ya.
And you won't fall in more than nine times out of ten.
player
... Maybe you can do something else. [reprompt]
→ You know, never mind.
Are you sure? Well, let me know if you think of something I could help with.
Mickey Mouse
Can I ask you something...
You can ask me anything. We're friends!
→ How are you so happy all the time?
Actually, I'm not. I get mad and sad like everybody else. But I always try to find the good in every day and everybody.
→ Have you ever gotten into trouble?
Uh, sure... Actually, I mess up a lot. But I always try to learn somethin' when I do.
→ Who is your favorite friend?
Gosh, that's a tough one. I love all my pals. |
Goofy makes me laugh, Donald's always there for me when I need him, and you're so easy to talk to. |
And, of course, Minnie's the best sweetheart a fella could ask for. |
How are you, Mickey?
Hiya, pal! How are you today?
→ Happy as usual!
Hot dog! Then I'm happy YOU'RE happy! Ha-ha!
→ I'm a little angry.
Gosh. Well, talking about it might help.
→ I have a lot of work to do.
That can be pretty overwhelming, huh? Well, I believe in you. Let me know if I can help.
→ I'm in a fight with my friend.
Hmm. That must be pretty tough. Well, know that you'll always have my friendship.
→ Just one of those days.
I get it. Well, stick with me, and maybe we can turn a bad day into a good one!
→ I'm sad.
Oh no! What's got you so blue?
→ Just one of those days.
I understand. Well, if you stick around, maybe we can help you turn the day around.
→ I lost someone.
Oh, I'm so sorry. I'll be here for you if you need me, pal.
→ I feel unproductive.
Well, then let's get to work! Ha-ha! You've always got friends here who need help.
I've got a question for you. [Added 1.3]
player
Mickey, you took care of all the gardening around the Village for a long time.
player
Do you have any tips?
Oh, gosh. Let me think...
Oh! I got one! Certain crops seem to grow a lot faster in certain parts of the Valley.
player
Hm... I guess it must be the climate and soil...
Yep. So if you wanna grow a lot of vegetables fast, you've gotta start lots of gardens all over the Village.
player
Thanks for the tip. When it comes to gardening...
→ ...I'm great at it, but I can always use more help.
Well, I'm always around if you need me!
→ ...I'm getting better, but still need some tips.
Aw, you're learning pretty fast. Soon I'll be asking you for tips!
→ ...I'm hopeless! I need all the help I can get.
Aw, don't sell yourself short, pal. |
Just keep planting things and harvesting 'em. I bet you'll get the hang of it soon. |
Something on your mind? [Added 1.3]
Gosh, Player, does your Backpack get heavy with all that stuff you keep in it?
→ It's not so bad.
Well, if it ever gets too heavy for ya, you could...
→ It can get a little heavy.
I'll bet! I can't believe how much you can fit in there! |
Just remember, if it ever gets too full for ya, you could... |
→ I'm exhausted from lugging all this stuff around!
I'll bet! I can't believe how much you can fit in there! |
Just remember, if it ever gets too full for ya, you could... |
...try puttin' some stuff in a chest in your House for safekeeping.
Some folks around the Valley even have a bunch of different chests in different colors for all the different kinds of stuff they like to have.
→ Sounds like a great idea!
Fantastic! Though...
→ Sounds a little TOO organized for me.
I understand.
I know I'd have to write down what I put where. Like, are my other yellow shoes in the yellow chest for "yellow" or the silver chest for "shoes"? Ha-ha!
Tell me about your past.
You know, as an actor, I've gotten to do all sorts of fun jobs.
If you're curious about any of 'em, I'd be happy to tell you.
→ Steamboat operator.
That was the first job anybody got to see me do! And Minnie, too!
I had a great time whistling and driving that steamboat down the river.
→ Sounds fun!
It was! Especially since Minnie and I got to work together.
→ Sounds boring.
Nah. It was great! I got to be out in the fresh air and work with Minnie. I loved it!
→ Sounds muggy.
Well yeah, it was a steamboat! Ha-ha!
→ Sorcerer's apprentice.
Gosh, that one was a lot of work. Carrying all those water buckets was harder than it looked.
But it got really fun after I made that big mistake...
→ What mistake?
Well, I tried to do some magic. And it kinda got out of hand.
→ Did it involve brooms?
Yep, LOTS and LOTS of brooms. Ha-ha!
→ Musketeer.
Aw, that was a blast! Goofy, Donald and I got to battle with swords and race across the countryside. It was awesome!
What are you up to? [Added 1.3]
I'm just takin' care of some chores around the Village.
But you know all about that. You're always runnin' around pulling out Night Thorns or digging holes or any of the other things you do.
→ I just like helping people!
Well, don't forget, the rest of us Villagers are happy to lend a hand.
→ Ugh. It's exhausting being me.
Oh gosh. Well, don't forget...
You can always ask us to come along and we'll help ya take care of all your Dreamlight Duties.
Of course, we'll be a lot more help if it's somethin' we're good at. Ha-ha!
What do you think of the Village?
The Village looks amazing! You're doin' a great job, Player.
→ Thanks, Mickey!
You bet! Keep up the good work!
→ I couldn't have done it by myself!
Gosh, that means a lot comin' from you.
→ I know!
Heh-heh. Guess you're pretty confident, too.
What's on your mind? [Added 1.3]
Say, Player, I really like what you're doin' to spruce up the Valley.
→ Aw, thanks, Mickey!
[continue to next line]
→ It's nothing, really.
[continue to next line]
→ Somebody had to clean this place up...
Gosh, uh... we tried before you got here, but none of us could get rid of those Night Thorns.
Hey, I just remembered! I wanted to pass on a little somethin' I learned...
Make sure you leave room so you can make a garden big enough to grow lots of different kinds of crops.
Ya never know what you might need around here!
You seem preoccupied.
Say, Player, do you have any friends who have a short temper?
→ A few.
Gosh, I think everybody knows somebody with a short fuse. Like my friend Donald Duck.
When he thinks something's not fair or somebody's being treated badly, he can get real mad real fast.
What do you do when that happens?
→ Empathize with them.
You mean you let your friend know you understand why they're angry? |
Wow, that's real nice. I bet they appreciate that. |
→ Give them space.
That's probably smart. I know Donald never stays mad for long. |
You sure are a great friend, Player. |
→ I'm not sure.
Yeah, sometimes it's hard to know. With Donald, I've found that the best thing to do is just give him some space. Of course, if I can fix whatever he's mad about, that helps, too.
→ No... All my friends are very calm.
Then I guess you haven't met Donald Duck yet! Ha-ha! But don't worry. He's a great guy. I couldn't ask for a better friend.
→ There is Donald Duck.
That's just who I was thinking about.
When he thinks something's not fair or somebody's being treated badly, he can get real mad real fast.
What do you do when that happens?
→ Empathize with them.

Wow, that's real nice. I bet they appreciate that. |
→ Give them space.

Minnie Mouse
Do you have time to talk?
Did you need something, Player?
player
I was wondering...
→ What hobbies do you have?
I love to do all sorts of things! Garden, play tennis, ice skate. Oh, and I especially love to curl up with a good book.
→ Do you like to travel?
I really do! I just love exploring new places, and learning about their history and customs. |
And I especially love getting to make new friends! |
→ Is it hard to walk in heels all the time?
I guess I'm just used to it. And I always make sure to have a wide heel so it's very comfortable and safe.
Do you like living here?
I've been thinking of writing a song about the Valley.
But I'm having trouble thinking of a good name for it.
→ "Dreamlight Ditty."
Oh, that's adorable! Thank you!
→ "The Valley Twist."
That would be a perfect name for a dance tune!
→ "Let It Go."
Hmm... Sounds familiar. Hee-hee!
How are you today? [Added 1.3]
Oh, Player, I just love how the Valley looks at night.
When I'm standing on Dazzle Beach as all the stars come out over the Beach...
It's almost magical.
→ I feel the same!
Somehow I thought you would. You'll have to join Mickey and me on one of our evening strolls.
→ I prefer the daytime.
Well, I do love a nice sunny day in the Meadow. |
But there's something enchanting about the Valley at night. |
→ Right at sunset, that's the best.
I agree! Mickey and I love to picnic in the Meadow and watch the sun set over Dream Castle. |
It's the prettiest sight in the whole Valley. |
I love your style!
I love polka dots. They're one of my favorite patterns.
What patterns do you like?
→ Solid colors.
Those are nice too. I quite like red and pink.
→ Polka dots, too.
How fun! We should wear matching outfits someday!
→ Plaid.
Ooh, I bet you make that work very well!
So you and Mickey...
Isn't Mickey the sweetest? I'm so happy that we're together.
→ Why do you like him?
Well, he cares about everyone, and he's so optimistic. And he always makes me laugh.
What do you look for in a partner?
→ Humor.
Me too! Mickey's so funny. It's one of my favorite things about him.
→ Intelligence.
That's very important! I love how clever Mickey is. He can find a smart solution to the stickiest problem.
→ Money.
Oh. That's never been very important to us, but I hope you find whatever makes you happy.
→ You look really similar.
Hee-hee! I suppose we do. |
And it's such a coincidence that we have the same last name. Isn't that funny? |
Something on your mind? [Added 1.3]
Player, there's someone in the Village I'd like to talk to...
...but I have to admit that I'm a little nervous about it.
→ How can I help?
Could you give me some advice? |
You see, I'd like to talk to Ursula. |
→ I get nervous about talking to people too.
It can be scary to talk to someone new... |
...especially when that someone is Ursula. |
→ No need to be nervous! Everyone here is so nice.
That's true. Most everyone here is... |
...but I was hoping to talk to Ursula. |
player
Ursula? What do you want to talk to her about?
Well, I like to be friends with all my neighbors, so I was hoping we could find some things in common.
But I'm not sure she'd be open to it.
→ Talk to her like you would anyone else.
Are you certain? Is it that easy?
player
Definitely. I'll bet if you give Ursula a compliment, you'll become her favorite Villager.
Well, I'll give it a try. Thank you, Player!
→ She's pretty friendly. Just don't sign any contracts.
Oh, I'd never do that! I know she's a villain. |
But everyone should have a few friends. |
→ Better not to talk to her. She's a villain.
Oh, I know that. But everyone should have a few friends. |
I'll think about it. Thank you for always looking out for us, Player. |
What are you thinking about? [Added 1.3]
I've been thinking, Player... Isn't it interesting how all the parts of the Valley are so different?
Just walking through the Village, I can visit a forest, a meadow, or a beach!
Do you have a favorite?
→ The Forest of Valor.
Oh, I like the forest, too. The tall trees and their long cool shadows...
And all the adorable little forest creatures scurrying about.
What do you like to do in the forest?
→ Play hide-and-seek!
That sounds like fun! Perhaps we can play sometime.
→ Wander and explore!
Well, there's certainly a lot to explore.
→ Usually just fetch things for people.
It's nice that we can help out, isn't it?
→ The Peaceful Meadow.
The Meadow is very lovely and so open.
I like picking flowers and relaxing in the clover.
What do you like to do in the Meadow?
→ Picnic!
Me too! It's a perfect place to sit and enjoy the breeze.
→ Play catch!
The Meadow is a wonderful place for that. There's so much space!
→ Usually just fetch things for people.
It's nice that we can help out, isn't it?
→ Dazzle Beach.
I do like sitting on the Beach and watching the waves.
And sometimes I collect seashells, too.
What do you like to do at the Beach?
→ Go swimming.
The water here is perfect for that. Especially on a hot day.
→ Build sandcastles.
You should talk to Mickey. He's very good at building sandcastles. |
Maybe he could give you some pointers. |
→ Usually just fetch things for people.
It's nice that we can help out, isn't it?
What do you think about the Village?
You know, Player, I'm actually glad we have some villains in the Village.
→ Me too.
[continue to next line]
→ They're dangerous.
[continue to next line]
→ Villains are cool.
Oh, I'm not sure I'd go that far. There's a reason they're called "villains"! Besides...
I think it means we have the chance to show them the value of kindness.
If they see how much good comes from helping others, maybe they'll change their perspectives.
→ That would be great!
Wouldn't it? Let's be sure to set good examples.
→ Kindness? Sounds boring.
Hmm... Well, I think if you tried it, you'd find it's very rewarding.
What's on your mind? [Added 1.3]
You know, Player, I've been thinking about the weather.
player
Really? What's there to think about?
Well, it's the one thing we all have in common.
Even if you haven't got anything else to talk about, you can always talk about the weather.
player
Huh. I guess that's true.
The weather's been so nice in the Village lately.
What's your favorite kind of weather?
→ Clear skies.
That is nice. When the sky is clear, you can do so many things! |
You can go bicycling, or play a game, or go on a picnic. |
Or just sit outside and read a wonderful book. |
→ Rain.
Oh, I do like it when it rains sometimes. |
It's fun to go out with my umbrella and raincoat and smell the fresh air. |
But I also like listening to the rain from my window. |
→ Snow.
Oh, snow is so much fun! You can do so many things with it... |
Make snowmen, or snow angels, or throw snowballs. |
And it's so pretty when it's all new and fresh. |
You seem to like bows a lot.
I just love bows! They're my favorite accessory. And there are so many kinds... Butterfly bows. Button bows. Ribbon bows.
→ I like big poofy bows.
Those are such fun! My favorite big bow is made out of loops of pretty red ribbon.
→ I like small elegant bows.
Me too! My favorite small bows are a pair of little navy blue bows. I also have some gold ones I wear on my black shoes.
→ I'm not a bow kind of person.
Well, I'm sure you have your own particular style that's perfect for you!
Scrooge McDuck
How's it going? [Added 1.3]
I've got another piece of advice for ya.
When it comes to investments, you've got to diversify your portfolio.
→ What does that mean?
It means don't put all your Star Coins in one basket.
→ Like... invest in lots of different kinds of stuff?
Ay, you've got the right idea.
There are lots of ways to make money in Dreamlight Valley. A little bit of fishing here, a little bit of mining there...
But the best investment is real estate. Keep clearing away Night Thorns and opening up more of Dreamlight Valley.
And always be ready to go on an adventure to the far side of the Village. There are lots of precious gems you cannae find if you stick to the Meadow!
Got any business tips? [Added 1.3]
Looking for a bit of advice about managing your Star Coins?
→ Please! A penny for your thoughts!
My thoughts are worth a lot more than a penny, you know. |
But we all need to start somewhere. A penny's better than nothing. |
→ I could always use a little advice.
That's the right attitude! |
Don't ever go discounting the value of a little advice... or a little bit of money. |
→ I probably already know what you're about to tell me...
Hey! You can never go wrong listening to some honest advice.
player
- sigh* Okay, okay, fine. What's your advice?
Listen up. Who knows? Maybe you'll even find a bit of wisdom in it.
And a little bit of wisdom's all you really need to strike it rich.
In fact, that's just what my advice to ya is all about.
Managing your money takes nothing more than shrewd investment. Start with something little and turn it into a lot.
Something little like... a seed!
In this Valley, crops are... well, a cash crop.
player
What sorts of plants should I grow?
I've got just one word for you. Just one word.
Are ya listenin'?
Okra.
There's a great future in Okra.
Something on your mind? [Added 1.3]
Y'know, Player, there's one secret to really standing out among your competitors. It's what sets my shop apart.
→ Variety?
That's exactly right. You're getting to have quite an instinct for business yourself, Player.
→ High-quality products?
No. Well, yes. My products are all high quality. But it's more than that.
→ Ridiculously high prices?
Huh?! For products as high quality as the ones I offer, my prices are a bargain.
player
Okay, okay, sorry. So if it's not that, what's your secret?
My secret is variety.
I always keep my customers guessing with many different fine products. You never know what you're going to get when you step into Scrooge McDuck's Store.
You oughta be sure to visit every day so you don't miss anything.
- What are you up to today? [Added 1.3]
What are you up to today? [Added 1.3]
I've been reminiscing about my time in the Yukon near Mooseneck Glacier.
The valleys between those mountains... they were so... so...
→ ...pure and beautiful?
TODOResponseToAnswerPureBeautiful
→ ...clean and untouched?
That it was, Player. That it was.
→ ...full of potential for profit?
Aye, there were plenty of ways to turn a profit. |
But I appreciated them for more than just that. |
No fancy meal has tasted half as fine as the beans I cooked on my own campfire under the Klondike stars.
Before stock options and crop futures and compound interest, my tools were my gold pan, my pick, and my shovel.
With those, I worked the icy creeks and frozen tundra...
...and earned every cent with my own two hands.
→ Sounds amazing!
Aye, that it was.
→ Sounds like a lot of work.
Aye, it was, but it was noble work.
Sometimes I think more than gold or assets in banks or properties around the world...
...I'm richest in memories.
You're a businessman, right, Scrooge?
Aye. Specifically, I consider myself an adventure-capitalist. I made much of my fortune searching for treasure, and investing it wisely.
Do you have some questions about money? I'd be happy to answer 'em for you.
→ How did you get so rich?
By being smarter than the smarties and tougher than the toughies! I'm not like some folks, born to riches. |
I was born to a poor family in Scotland and earned every dime I've got! |
→ Why do you care so much about money?
Aye, that's a fair question. And I'll answer it true. I was born to a poor family in Scotland. I know what it means to not have what you need. |
So, I know the real value of money. |
→ How do I make as much money as you?
Well, you have to work hard and be clever and stubborn, too. And it doesn't hurt to be lucky. But most importantly, you have to treat folks fairly.
Not like some who got where they are by cheating, and taking advantage of folks. And the more money they have, the more they cheat.
→ How do we stop them?
Ooh, that's a hard question. Money's a powerful thing. You've got to have rules about how money can be spent, and how workers can be treated. |
But those that get rich by cheating will spend to keep cheating. So you've always gotta keep your eyes open. |
→ Why aren't you like that?
Aye, well... I've done some things I'm not proud of. But I like to think I've learned my lesson. |
I suppose it's my family, and the good folks I've worked with. I wouldn't want to do anything to change how they see me. |
→ Cheating sounds fun.
What?! Cheaters are nothing but no-good, spineless, rotten apples! Trust me: Nothing worthwhile ever comes from cheating.

Got a question for me?
I've gotta know something, because when I tell Antonio about you, he's gonna ask.
What's your favorite animal?
→ Chigüiro.
TODOResponseToChigüiro
→ Jaguar.
TODOResponseToJaguar
→ Butterfly.
TODOResponseToButterfly
→ It's too hard to choose!
I understand that. Antonio can never pick a favorite either. He says they're all his friends.
- I've got a question for you.
- Let's get to know one another better. Ask me anything.
Let's get to know one another better. Ask me anything.
Player, do you have any sisters?
→ I do.
TODOResponseToAnswerIHaveSisters
→ No, but I have other siblings.
And... do you get along?
→ We do.
XXXXX
→ Not really.
XXXXX
→ Sometimes.
That's pretty normal, I think. Siblings can be a lot. |
My sister Isabela and I had a rocky relationship for a while. But it's gotten a lot better. |
→ I'm an only child.
Really? Wow! With a family as large as mine, that takes a lot for me to imagine.
Something on your mind?
Player, how are you? Just checking in.
You do a lot around here, which kind of reminds me of my sister Luisa.
And people who take on a lot... well, sometimes they take on too much.
→ I'm just getting started!
TODOResponseToAnswerJustGettingStarted
→ Maybe I should relax some more.
TODOResponseToAnswerIShouldRelax
→ I'm cracking under all the pressure!!!
¡Ayyy! That's not good. And, in case you didn't know, your eyelid's twitching. |
If you're overdoing it, you need to take some time for yourself. |
- Some weather we're having, huh? (when raining)
Some weather we're having, huh?
When the weather's like this, I always think of my Tía Pepa.
→ Why is that?
Tía Pepa's gift is that her moods can change the weather.
→ Is her gift being able to predict the weather?
TODOResponseToAnswerIsHerGift
→ I bet her gift has to do with the weather.
TODOResponsetoIBetHerGift
It's really easy to tell how she's feeling. You just have to look up!
- What are you up to today?
- What are your parents like?
What's on your mind?
Have I ever told you about my Tío Bruno?
→ What's he like?
TODOResponseToAnswerWhat'sBrunoLike
→ He can see the future, right?
TODOResponseToAnswerBrunoSeeFuture
→ I thought you didn't talk about him?
Not anymore! I talk about him as much as I can. |
I never want people to not talk about Bruno again. |
