Maui is a character from the film Moana (2016).
He's encountered after travelling through one of the initial three realm gates to the Moana Realm, and can be invited to the Valley after completing his necessary quests and placing/purchasing his home.
Unlocking
To invite Maui to the Valley players must first have completed quest for Moana, and built her house. After she's moved to the Valley, Maui will offer the quest 
A Feast Worthy of a Demigod.
To complete this quest he requests 3 meals that are at least 3 star quality. Some easy early-game dishes to complete this are Seafood Soup, Grilled Veggie Platter, and Hearty Salad, but any 3+ star meal will do.
After delivering the meals to Maui, he'll give you the plans to him house. It must be placed in water, and then pay Scrooge Construction 
5,000 to complete it and Maui will arrive.

Friendship Rewards
Maui will award the following rewards when Friendship levels are reached. Friendship can be leveled up through gifts, quests, conversation, or by hanging out.

Maui's home is a cave on a tropical island called the Peaceful Grotto. It can only be placed in water and costs 5,000 to construct.
