This article is a stub and is missing information. You can help Dreamlight Valley Wiki by expanding it!

Daily Discussions are conversations that can be had once a day with Villagers in the Valley. One conversation prompt at a time will randomly be offered to select whenever interacting with a Villager. Leaving the interaction and returning may cause a new topic to appear, but not all topics seem to shuffle on any given day, or are available under all circumstances (e.g. some are only available during rain, or after certain quest completions). Only one Daily Discussion can be had with each Villager per day, and the conversation prompt will disappear until the daily reset at 5:00 am local time.

Having a discussion counts towards the rotating Dreamlight Duty "Have a daily discussion.", and the Friendship Dreamlight Achievements "Have Daily Discussions!" (x1, x50, x100, x500, x1000).

It's rather pleasant to be living in an era with so many modern conveniences. Magic is useful, but pales before the wonder of indoor plumbing. Tell me, Player, what is your favorite invention? →  Airplanes. Magnificent machines! Ahh, to fly through the sky like a bird without all those itchy feathers. →  I agree with you... indoor plumbing. It's a crowd pleaser, that is certain. →  Cell phones. Yes, those little connected boxes. They do seem more useful than pigeons... And unlike owls, they rarely talk back.

Player, do you know the distinction between Dark and Light Magic? →  I do. So, you already understand the nature of magic? Very good. →  I don't. It's a simple difference, really. Light Magic is performed for others. Dark Magic is performed for yourself. Dark Magic is not necessarily evil, but is more easily turned to evil. Now tell me: Which calls to you? Light Magic or Dark Magic? →  Light Magic. Light Magic. An altruistic choice. And one that will serve you well in your quest to restore the Valley. →  Dark Magic. And I do suppose it helps people understand that I'm a wizard. Part of being a wizard is managing people's expectations, you know. That may even be the most important part. →  How do you do magic? There's no simple answer to that. But I can say that it takes years of study. One must understand the nature of...well, nature! And how to influence it. Player, have you noticed all the hidden treasures scattered about the Village? Someone has left countless chest containing all sorts of valuable things. Vestments, furnishings, money... It's quite a mystery as to who might have left them. →  Maybe they're from before the Forgetting? That would be the most logical assumption, yes. Of course, just because something's logical doesn't mean it works that way here. →  Maybe they just... appeared there. An intriguing suggestion. Perhaps the Valley itself is trying to provide us with gifts. In any case, some of the treasures are better hidden than others. I suggest making a thorough investigation of the Valley. You never know where you might find something useful.

I have traveled extensively through time, Player. I've visited the past, and I remember a great deal of the future. →  That sounds confusing. Well, it gives me a unique perspective. Player... Now, I know you're not a wizard, but have you ever heard of a Wizards' Duel? →  Yes. Then you know how it works. My last bout with Madam Mim... well, it... it was a bit of a grudge match, you might say. We needn't be so brutal. →  No. Well, it's a classic battle of wits, where each player takes turns changing into different things. The goal is to defeat the other player's form! Since you can't change forms, we'll just say the names of what we WOULD change into. And let's stick to animals, shall we? Here, I'll start... I choose the form of a tortoise! →  Raccoon. A reasonable choice... A raccoon might be able to prey on a young tortoise. But I assure you I am an old, venerable tortoise and quite immune to your raccoon attacks. I win this duel. →  Rabbit. A rabbit? Do you intend to challenge tortoise-me to a race? Well, I know a fable that will tell you how that goes. Heh-heh. I win. →   Elephant player Elephant. Seems a bit extreme, but I suppose in a contest of brawn an elephant would win against a tortoise. Then I shall become a mouse and terrify your elephant. →   Cat. player Cat. Yes, that is a classic response. Cat catches mouse. Then I will make the classic response in turn and transform into a dog. →  Wolf. Hmph. Wolf and dog. One is a descendant of the other, so the forms are quite close. I shall declare this contest a draw. →  Human. Very clever! Humans are indeed animals. Now, I must say, something is perplexing me, Player. Clearly, not all the laws of physics apply here in Dreamlight Valley. From the way you're able to cross between worlds, it appears space and time here are merely strong suggestions... not ironclad laws. Yet other things remain immutable. Take gravity, for instance. What goes up still invariably comes down! →  I wish it didn't. I'd love to fly. Yes, I imagine it's an intriguing possibility for you. But for now, I'm afraid you'll have to content yourself with exploring the mysteries of the Valley down here on the ground. →  It's weird. Maybe we should run some tests. Ah-ha! A fine idea indeed. Er... just don't throw anything too valuable from anywhere too high, all right? →  Maybe the laws of physics only work if we believe they do. A fascinating idea! Perhaps if we could get all the Villagers to try NOT to follow the law of gravity anymore, it would disappear! No, no, no. That's preposterous. How would that even be possible? Never mind me. Are you okay, Moana?

I was just thinking about my Gramma. I still really miss her. →  Who is that? My Gramma Tala. My father's mother. I loved her so much. She... she understood me. She told me the story of Te Fiti. And that our ancestors were voyagers. Sometimes I feel her spirit with me, but I still miss what we had. I was really lucky to have her. →  The grief will pass. I know. The sadness... it's softer than it used to be. When she died I was so sad; it was like a sharp pain. But now it's like a distant ache. Familiar, almost comforting. I guess that's the love. →  You'll always have her memory. You're right. And that's really comforting. She wouldn't want me to stay sad. And I won't. But she was important. I don't want my heart to forget her.

Did you always want to sail away?

When I was young, my father wanted me to be happy where I was. To focus on my responsibility to our people. But there was something inside me that called me to the ocean. I found a way to bring those two things together. Our people are voyagers again. →  I'd like to voyage someday. Oh, I know you'd love it! After seeing how you were in my canoe, I can tell the ocean calls to you just as much as it does to me. →  I'm happy right where I am. No voyaging for me. I know a lot of people who feel that way. And I love Motunui. I'm always happy there. And in your Village, too. But the ocean is always calling to me to sail and explore. →  I'm glad you found a way to bring those two things together. Ever since I was a little girl, I could feel the ocean calling to me. Is there a place in nature that makes you happiest? →   It's hard to decide. I love nature! That's great! For me, it's definitely the ocean. Even if sometimes I have a hard time figuring out what it wants. But if you HAD to choose, what's your favorite place in nature? →  I love the forest. Really? I'd love to learn more about the forest. I've seen so many new trees just in the Village! →  I love the ocean. It's incredible, right? So beautiful and yet so wild. I could never live away from the water. →  I love the mountains. I've seen the mountains here in the distance, but I haven't been there yet. I bet the view is amazing! →   I like the indoors best! Now that we have coconuts in the Valley, I hope everyone gets a lot of use out of them. They're pretty good for just about anything. →  Coconut soup. Mm! I'd need to catch some fish, but coconut milk can make a delicious soup. →  A coconut helmet. You know, on our journey together, Maui and I faced off with some tiny scavengers called the Kakamora. They use coconuts as armor. →  Nets out of the fibers! Yes! Wait -- I think I taught you that one.

Will you go sailing today?

I'm not sure if I'll go sailing today. It depends on the weather. →  Have you sailed in storms? A few. It's dangerous. ...and maybe a little bit exciting. →  What's the best weather for sailing? It depends on what you're doing. Cloudy days are good for fishing. The sun feels amazing, but you want to make sure you have some shade. So it's good that you can use a sail for shade when you need it.

You look a little down.

When I miss Gramma Tala, I go to the ocean shore. She loved to dance in the shallows. What do you do when you miss someone? →   I tell stories about them! That's really smart. We tell lots of stories on Motunui. Gramma Tala was an amazing storyteller. →  What kinds of stories did she tell? All kinds. But her favorite was about our history. How Maui stole the heart of Te Fiti and about the demon who tried to get it back! Some of my friends used to get scared, but I was just excited. →  Do YOU tell stories now? I do! My favorites are the scary ones about the Realm of Monsters! Not that I want to scare anyone. Unless they like that! →  Did you have a favorite story? I do. It's about how Gramma Tala came to me when I lost my way. She really helped. →   I call my friends to hang out with them. I have a lot of people to talk to, too. But Gramma Tala was... different. She really understood me. →  What did you like best about her? She didn't care if people thought she was different. She was just so much... herself. →  Do you think you're like her? I hope so. Ice and snow. They come in so many shapes and textures. Hard ice. Soft flurries. Frost. Blizzards. They're all distinct. They feel different when I control them. →  What does ice feel like? Ice is sharp and clear. It's very hard... it never bends, but it can curve. I enjoy working with ice. It's precise. →  What does snow feel like? Snow is light and airy. It's made up of so many little flakes. That can make it harder to control. I'm keeping track of many parts. →  Does it feel different to create life? Yes. It's strange... it's like there's this warmth within the ice. But it's not normal warmth. It's cold warmth. And it's aware. You can probably tell... it's hard to describe.

I've learned a lot about my powers in the last year. And about the Spirits of Nature. Would you like me to tell you about any of them? →  Water. The Water Spirit is also called the Water Nokk. It takes the form of a horse and has the power of the ocean. The Nokk guards the Enchanted Forest fiercely and won't respect you unless you prove yourself worthy. →  Fire. The Fire Spirit appears as a tiny salamander who leaves a trail of fire as it runs. We call it Bruni. Its flames can be frightening, but it only makes them in times of unrest of strife. Bruni likes it when I make snowflakes that it can eat. →  Earth. The Earth Giants can be dangerous if you disturb them. They sleep most of the time, so you might mistake them for hills or mountains. But if they wake, they stomp and throw boulders. So... it's best not to wake them. →  Wind. The Wind Spirit can be a playful, gentle breeze, or a swirling vortex. Olaf named it Gale. My mother knew Gale when she was a young girl. Gale helped her save my father. And Gale guided us at many points during our journey through the Enchanted Forest.

I was a young lad in Glasgow, earning my way shining shoes. My very first customer was a ditch digger with an inch of mud on his boots! I scrubbed with all the strength in my small body and left his boots spotless. But he paid me with an American dime, which was useless in Glasgow! The cheat! I vowed then to always be honest in my dealings and earn my money square.

Aye. Specifically, I consider myself an adventure-capitalist. I made much of my fortune searching for treasure, and investing it wisely. Do you have some questions about money? I'd be happy to answer 'em for you. →  How did you get so rich? By being smarter than the smarties and tougher than the toughies! I'm not like some folks, born to riches. I was born to a poor family in Scotland and earned every dime I've got! →  Why do you care so much about money? Aye, that's a fair question. And I'll answer it true. I was born to a poor family in Scotland. I know what it means to not have what you need. So, I know the real value of money. →  How do I make as much money as you? Well, you have to work hard and be clever and stubborn, too. And it doesn't hurt to be lucky. But most importantly, you have to treat folks fairly. Not like some who got where they are by cheating, and taking advantage of folks. And the more money they have, the more they cheat. →  How do we stop them? Ooh, that's a hard question. Money's a powerful thing. You've got to have rules about how money can be spent, and how workers can be treated. But those that get rich by cheating will spend to keep cheating. So you've always gotta keep your eyes open. →  Why aren't you like that? Aye, well... I've done some things I'm not proud of. But I like to think I've learned my lesson. I suppose it's my family, and the good folks I've worked with. I wouldn't want to do anything to change how they see me. →  Cheating sounds fun. What?! Cheaters are nothing but no-good, spineless, rotten apples! Trust me: Nothing worthwhile ever comes from cheating.
