Daily Discussions
You seem curious about my outfit.
I am! You wear so many interesting things. |
Are they good luck charms? |
→ No — I just like accessorizing.
Oh, of course. |
Well, you look wonderful. And who knows... if your accessories make you feel good, that might just be lucky! |
→ Yes, they are!
I thought so! I don't know the symbolism of all the things you wear... |
...but the idea is familiar. My grandmother does the same thing. |
She has beads and pendants that all mean different things. |
→ Maybe. What makes a good luck charm?
I'm not sure. My grandmother told me they attract good things to you. |
She knows more about it than I do. |
Did you say something?
Fulfill your duties calmly and respectfully...
Oh! Player! Ha, I was just trying to recite something I memorized back home.
Are you good at memorizing things?
→ I'm... okay at it.
My friend Chien-Po told me that if you need help memorizing a list of things, imagine them each associated with one finger.
→ I'm terrible at memorizing things!
It's not my greatest strength, either. I used to put notes on my arm in ink just in case. But it's good to practice.
→ I've never forgotten anything, ever.
Really? That's impressive.
C'mon, let's try a memory game!
I'll say three words, and you say them back to me.
Got it?
→ Honor. Discipline. Chrysanthemum.
Not quite! Maybe we could try again sometime.
→ Honor. Mushu. Magnolia.
That's right! I'll have to challenge you with more words next time.
→ Patience. Mushu. Magnolia.
So close. Just one word off!
→ I already forgot what you said!
That's all right. Maybe we could try again sometime.
What makes a good warrior?
Well, there are a lot of different qualities that make a good warrior. |
Discipline and strength, certainly. |
→ I'm very disciplined.
That's good. Discipline is the foundation of all skill. |
You can learn to do almost anything with practice and determination. |
→ I'm strong.
That's great! But remember, strength doesn't just mean physical strength. |
Being strong of character is just as important. |
You seem deep in thought, Mulan.
Oh, I was just thinking about backup plans. You know... another cup if the first one breaks... |
...another strategy if your opponent anticipates the first one. |
→ You'll be ready for anything!
That's the goal! Though it's also important to stay flexible... |
...so you can respond to new things in the moment. |
→ Isn't that tiring?
Not really. I suppose it's something I've always done, at least a little. |
And it's just how I think now. |
→ Backup plans for something specific?
Well, I'd like to get a present for Goofy. |
And a backup present if he accidentally breaks the first one. |
Or I suppose I could just make the first present something super durable. |
What's so fascinating about the rain?
I once heard a legend about warriors who could dodge raindrops. |
They were so quick and graceful they could walk through the rain and stay dry. |
→ That doesn't sound realistic.
I don't know. Most legends have at least some truth to them. |
But I've found in training that simple goals are best. Be a bit quicker tomorrow than you were yesterday. |
→ That. Sounds. Awesome.
It does, doesn't it! |
I train to be quick, but that's pretty incredible. |
→ Can you train me to do that?
No. I wouldn't even know where to start. |
But I can train you to be quicker than you were yesterday. |
- Are you starting to remember the Village more?
- Tell me about your friends.

Hello there, Miss.
...

Um... Don't you want me to introduce myself?

Huh. Why does that keep happening here?

With Mushu
Hey there, Miss Hero of China. Let me see your war face.
Now, Mushu?
What, you're not ready? What if a danger jumps out from behind that rock? |
What are you gonna do then? Show me how you'll scare 'em! |
I'd probably just take my bo staff and disarm them.
That works too.

Hey, Mulan. I've been feelin' really down lately. Can I talk to you about it?

Oh! Ha! Ha-ha-ha...

I mean, if you're just gonna laugh at me, then what's the point?
HA-HA-HA!!! Oh no, Mike! Stop it; I can't help it! I'm sorry! Really sorry! HA-HA-HA!

Ahhh! This is such an isolating experience!
