Ensure the Golden Potato is in your Backpack.

Spoiler: Step 0.5 - Finding Instructions

Go to Merlin's House and have a look around. Spoiler: More Help Take note of the items on the table on the right side of the room as you enter. Spoiler: Solution There's an open book with a diamond-shaped stone next to it. This book shows an image of a potato placed on a diamond stone with the numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4 next to it. This is a Transfiguration Stone. The goal is to find all Transfiguration Stones and interact with them in a certain order.

Spoiler: Step 1

This step will transform the Mysterious Golden Potato into a Golden Carrot. Where have you dealt with a puzzle involving crops before? Spoiler: More Help Go to the Mystical Cave on Dazzle Beach, the second floor, where you encountered the second Magic Gate and planted a Carrot, Tomato, and Wheat Seed during With Great Power.... Spoiler: Solution At the table on the left-hand side, across from the soil mounds, there will be a Transfiguration Stone. Transfer the Golden Potato into the slot, and it will transform into a Golden Carrot.

Spoiler: Step 2

This step will transform the Golden Carrot into a Golden Crab. Where have you dealt with a quest involving placing fish or seafood before? Spoiler: More Help Go to Elsa's Cave in the Forest of Valor, where you placed Arendellian Pickled Herring on a pedestal during The Ice Cavern Mystery. Spoiler: Solution On her table, there will be a new Transfiguration Stone. Transfer the Golden Carrot into the slot, and it will transform into a Golden Crab.

Spoiler: Step 3

This step will transform the Golden Crab into a Golden Night Thorn. Removing Night Thorns is at the heart of gameplay. Where have you dealt with a quest involving placing a heart? Spoiler: More Help In The Heart of Dreamlight Valley, you placed the Heart of Dreamlight Valley in the fountain on the top level of the Dream Castle. Spoiler: Solution Inside the Dream Castle, walk to the top of the stairs on the right side and towards the large fountain. Along the bannister, there will be another Transfiguration Stone. Transfer the Golden Crab into the slot, and it will transform into a Golden Night Thorn.

Spoiler: Step 4

This step will transform the Golden Night Thorn into a Gleaming Gold Potion. Who is most associated with potions around Dreamlight Valley? Spoiler: More Help Return to Merlin's House. Spoiler: Solution At the table on the right-hand side as you enter, where you initially read the instructions from the open book, is the final Transfiguration Stone. Transfer the Golden Night Thorn into the slot, and it will transform into a Golden Potion.
