Walkthrough

The quest will automatically begin once the requirements are met.

Enter the realm to begin progress

Once the player enters the realm, a cutscene will play showing the various areas of the realm, The Beast's human portrait, which fades to dark in a claw-mark way, and then a flying book.

Find and follow the flying book to the library, in which a cutsene will play showing Belle in the library surrounded by a lot of flying books, and cuts to the player walking in.

After the cutscene, the player will be forced to talk to her.

Dialogue
player

Belle, what's going on here? Why are there books flying everywhere?! [1]

Oh! I-- Do I know you?

→  Let's focus on the books! I'm here to help.

Thank you!

→  I promise you can trust me.

I feel like I can. But...

→  That's a long story...

One for a quieter moment, I think.

I'm afraid this storm of flying books is being quite difficult.

→  That's a good READ on the situation.

You enjoy wordplay, too? Well, I'd love to discuss it with you later. But for now...

→  I'm an expert book wrangler!

[unknown]

→  I've found some books difficult to reach before.

This is a little different.

Will you help me catch them?

Once we collect all the flying books, I can explain everything!

Belle will ask the player to collect some flying books.

The flying books will act like dropped items that always move, are a bit slower than the player's speed, and try to run away from them when approached.

Once obtained, bring the books back to Belle.

Dialogue

You caught some of the books! And look -- the rest of them are falling!

Thank you for helping stop the book storm. (Belle becomes unlocked once options appear)

→     Anything for an old friend.

Old friend? It's strange... I do feel as though we've met before.

player

The truth is hard to explain and harder to believe... For now, just trust that I'm here to help you figure things out.

→     That was just a typical day in Dreamlight Valley!

Dreamlight Valley?

player

It's a magical place filled with wonder and adventure and friendship.

That sounds like somewhere from my favorite books.

player

It's just like that! You should visit once we sort everything out here.

→  What started this in the first place?

I'm not sure. The Beast and I had a disagreement. He asked me not to go into the West Wing again...

But there was something there I wanted to see.

→   I'd do the same thing!

You must be curious, like me.

player

I guess so! What happened next?

→   How did that make books fly?

I don't know that it did. I think it must be something else.

player

What happened next?

→   You two need to talk boundaries!

[unknown]

player

What happened next?

Well, he found me there and got very angry.

We argued, then I left and came here to find something to read, but...

As soon as I opened my book, all the books started flying off the shelves in a storm! I don't think it's part of the enchantment on the castle...

player

It must be Dreamlight Magic... The storm of books was reflecting your feelings.

Dreamlight Magic...? I've never heard of that. But the Beast was the one who was most upset. He's locked himself in the West Wing, and he won't open the door for anyone.

→   We could ask him nicely.

I've tried that. He won't answer me.

player

Then I'll try talking to him.

I don't think he'll let you into the room.

→  Let's trick him into unlocking the door!

[unknown]

→  I'll break the door down!

[unknown]

player

Is there any other way into the West Wing?

Well, when I first arrived at the castle, Lumiere did say something about a secret passage in the library...

I've never found it. But you could search the library and see if you can. I'm going to put these books back on their shelves.

→   You had me at "secret passage."
player

I'm so excited!

I'm glad.

→  I'll start searching right away!

[unknown]

→  Maybe see if there's a book on relationship advice...

[unknown]

Please come find me if you locate the secret passage in the library.

You might want to check by the rolling ladder in the corner. I felt a cold draft there the other day.

Belle will ask you to investigate the rolling ladder, which is broken, missing 4 steps and 2 wheels.

Find the Broken Ladder Steps and Ladder's Missing Wheels around the library, then fix the ladder by putting the items in its storage compartment.

A cutscene will then play, showing the rolling ladder moving to the right side, and the bookshelf sliding left, revealing the secret entrance as the player backs off in shock.

Return to Belle once the entrance is revealed.

Dialogue

You found the secret passage? That's wonderful!

→  Behind a bookshelf! Dream come true!

It is intriguing, isn't it? Like something out of a mystery.

→  It took forever to find.

[unknown]

→  Bet it's really dusty in there.

[unknown]

player

Let's go see the Beast!

I think I ought to stay here. He's still upset with me.

Oh, but you are a stranger... He won't like a stranger in his room either. Even the staff rarely go in there.

→  I could dress like one of them?
player

That way, he might just think I'm just a staff member.

→  I'm not scared of the Beast.

[unknown]

→  I'll dress up as Cogsworth!

[unknown]

It is rather dark in there... I suppose it might work.

I used to sew quite often when my father needed things for his inventions.
