The Myterious Golden Potato Questline is a Hidden Questline that starts by obtaining the Mysterious Golden Potato and involves collecting five more potatoes of different colors. Completion of the questline rewards a Rainbow Fox companion.

Obtaining the Gleaming Gold Potion (Mysterious Golden Potato)

The Mysterious Golden Potato could originally be acquired by redeeming a code which was hidden in a screenshot shared by the developers via social media. It was collected from the mailbox after inputting the code in the settings menu. This code was retired in Update 5 as the potato was added to the game.

Step 1: Obtain the Golden Potato

As of Update 5, the Mysterious Golden Potato is found by interacting with the vault inside Scrooge's Store.

Optional: Find the Transfiguration Instructions

On the table inside Merlin's House, there is an open book with a diamond-shaped stone next to it. This book shows an image of a potato placed on a diamond stone with the numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4 next to it. Follow these instructions and interact with four diamond shaped transfiguration stones located in Dreamlight Valley in the order shown in the book to complete the transfiguration of the Mysterious Golden Potato.

Steps 2-5: Transfigure the Golden Potato

Step 2: Transfigure the Golden Potato Take the Mysterious Golden Potato to the Mystical Cave on Dazzle Beach. The first transfiguration stone is on a table by the second Magic Gate where crops were planted during the quest With Great Power.... Interact with the transfiguration stone to open a window where the Mysterious Golden Potato can be placed and transfigured into a Golden Carrot. Step 3: Transfigure the Golden Carrot Take the Golden Carrot to Elsa's cave. The second transfiguration stone is on her dining table in the first room. Interact with the transfiguration stone to open a window where the Golden Carrot can be placed and transfigured into a Golden Crab. Step 4: Transfigure the Golden Crab Take the Golden Crab to the fountain on the top level of the Dream Castle. The next transfiguration stone is found on the bannister near the fountain. Interact with the transfiguration stone to open a window where the Golden Crab can be placed and transfigured into a Golden Night Thorn. Step 5: Transfigure the Golden Night Thorn Go back to Merlin's House. The final transfiguration stone is on the table next to the book containing the transfiguration instructions. Interact with the transfiguration stone to open a window where the Golden Night Thorn can be placed and transfigured into a Gleaming Gold Potion.

Obtaining the Raging Red Potion (Red Potato)

Step 1: Obtain the Red Potato

The Red Potato is found in the fridge in Remy's House and may be collected after acquiring the Mysterious Golden Potato.

Optional: Find the Red Potato Recipe

One of the notes next to the Serving Hatch in the Ratatouille Realm shows the following recipe: 1 ??? 2 Slush Ice 3 Fish 4 Fruit 5 Vegetable Follow this recipe to successfully cook the Red Potato.

Step 2: Cook the Red Potato

Cook a dish using the following ingredients: Red Potato Slush Ice Lobster Raspberry Chili Pepper Place the resulting Icy-Red Stew... Yuck on the Serving Hatch in the Ratatouille Realm and pick up the Raging Red Potion spawned by the interaction.

Obtaining the Electrifying Orange Potion (Orange Potato)

Optional: Find Clues to the Location of the Orange Potato

Inside the Secret Room in the Dream Castle revealed during the quest The Secret Door, there is a small map next to the Ship in a Bottle on the table in the center of the room. The top right corner of the map shows a drawing of the Lenses of Shadows rewarded from The Treasure Hunt Part 2. Equip the Lenses of Shadows to reveal a small, gold-looking pebble on the floor. This is an Orange Pebble. They will only be visible while the Player is wearing the Lenses of Shadows and can be difficult to see, but looking for the "???" interaction prompt can help locate them. The Orange Potato is revealed by collecting all of the Orange Pebbles.

Step 1: Obtain the Orange Potato

Put on the Lenses of Shadows rewarded from The Treasure Hunt Part 2 and pick up the Orange Pebbles scattered in the Dream Castle, WALL-E Realm, Moana Realm, Ratatouille Realm, Toy Story Realm, and Frozen Realm. Note: Some locations require completing The Secret Door. The exact locations of the pebbles are: Dream Castle - on the first floor behind pillar on the left when you enter the castle Dream Castle - on the middle floor between pillar and balcony Dream Castle - on the top floor next to a potted plant on the left side of the fountain (the pebble is on the right side of the plant) Dream Castle - in the Secret Room, in front of Pine-Patterned Couch Dream Castle - in the Secret Room, to the left of the Suspended Shelf, slightly in front of the entrance to the hidden room Dream Castle - in hidden room of the Secret Room, between the Tall Bookshelf and Wooden Crafting Station WALL-E Realm - on the right side of the entrance, between the lamp and 5 rubbish cubes WALL-E Realm - between crafting station and broken fridge on the floor on the left Moana Realm - behind the Realm entry point, at the tip of the island Moana Realm - next to the fire pit Moana Realm - on the other side of the bay from the Realm entry point, a little out towards the water from the banana tree, between the large greenery and the water, near a scallop Moana Realm - near a Tall Curved Palm Tree and a Round Palm Tree, between blue and white flowers, on the top back of the island Ratatouille Realm - between the peanuts and the shelf holding basil, corn, onion, wheat, butter, and oregano Frozen Realm - near the Realm entrance, behind the third pillar when facing upon entry to the Realm (the pillar has a teardrop icon on it) Frozen Realm - following the path into the Frozen Realm and turning left by the rock stack where you placed the Stone Soup, at the base of a boulder further up the path Frozen Realm - across the ice bridge, in the middle of the field roughly under the fluttering golden leaves Toy Story Realm - to the left of the red backpack, immediately to the left of the entrance to the Realm Toy Story Realm - in the closet, in the left corner, below the picture of the penguin, elephant, and house Toy Story Realm - in the back-right corner of the room, next to a dark blue book with white clouds on it Toy Story Realm - in the back-left quadrant of the room, near where the blue blanket drapes over the edge of the bed close to the blue foam mat square with the pink 5-pointed star in the middle After collecting all 20 Orange Pebbles, combine them into the Orange Potato at a Crafting Station. Then, combine the Orange Potato with an Empty Vial to craft the Electrifying Orange Potion. Note: Both Crafting Recipes will not be listed at a Crafting Station until all 20 Pebbles are found (Orange Potato) or the Orange Potato is crafted (Electrifying Orange Potion). The recipes are listed under Functional Items.

Obtaining the Brilliant Blue Potion (Blue Potato)

Step 1: Obtain the Blue Potato

The Blue Potato is found on the ground in Ursula's Lair and may be collected after acquiring the Mysterious Golden Potato.

Steps 2-5: Gather the Remaining Ingredients

Step 2: Collect the Blue Shell The Blue Potato must be in inventory to complete this step. Go to the Moana Realm and, upon entering the realm, go through the first opening between palm trees to the right. Walk through the water to go along the outer right side of the rock formation in the middle of the water until you reach the Blue Shell. Although the water appears wide open, only a narrow, invisible path is passable. Step 3: Collect the Blue Starfish The Blue Potato and Blue Shell must be in inventory to complete this step. Go to the Deserted Island where Ariel is first encountered, and immediately turn left and walk to the end of the sand peninsula. Walk forward through the water until you reach a dead end. The Blue Starfish will be in a clearing between the rocks on the right side. Step 4: Collect the Blue Book The Blue Potato, Blue Shell, and Blue Starfish must be in inventory to complete this step. Go to the Mystical Cave on Dazzle Beach and go to the lowest level. The Blue Book is found in the water amongst the pillars. Step 5: Collect the Blue Gem The Blue Potato, Blue Shell, Blue Starfish, and Blue Book must be in inventory to complete this step. Go to the Vitalys Mine in Sunlit Plateau. Upon entering the mine, go left and follow the tunnels. Immediately after the tunnel filled with glowing mushrooms, there is a fork with a mining node straight ahead and a track branching right with a mining node at the end. Immediately before the dead-end track over the crevasse, there is a section of collapsed track to the left. At the end of the collapsed track is a mining cart filled with glowing crystals. The Blue Gem in front of it, to the left, in some reddish-brown foliage.

Step 6: Combine the Ingredients

Find the Shimmering Water Pool in the Vitalys Mine in the dead-end tunnel that forks immediately before the tunnel filled with glowing mushrooms. Interact with the Shimmering Water Pool to open a window where the Blue Potato, Blue Shell, Blue Starfish, Blue Book and Blue Gem can be placed to spawn the Brilliant Blue Potion, which can be immediately picked up.

Obtaining the Royal Purple Potion (Purple Potato)

Optional: Find the Passwords to the Purple Potato

The passwords to the Purple Potato are found in small, dark purple books scattered around the Valley. The exact locations of the books and the corresponding passwords are: Peaceful Meadow - at the southeast stairs leading from the Plaza to the Peaceful Meadow, next to the lamp Experiment No. 146. No one would suspect something as mundane as a potato could hold the key. I daresay it's genius. Plaza - at the southeast corner of the Wishing Well plaza, next to the lamp Experiment No. 243. The Forgotten is getting to me. I can't rely on my own memory. I must write everything down in a book lest I forget... Dazzle Beach - at the southwest base of the staircase leading down from the Peaceful Meadow to Dazzle Beach, next to the palm tree Experiment No. 569 I must rely on the logic of dreams to protect it. Only a dreamer can hope to restore the... Peaceful Meadow - at the eastern base of the Root Arch overlooking the entrance to the Glade of Trust Experiment No. 892. A simple declaration of Higitis Figitus should be enough to... Sunlit Plateau - on a rock on the west side of the waterfall dropping into Glade of Trust Experiment No. 977. Attempted to unlock the magical power of fugu...Alas, results proved disastrous... Frosted Heights - inside the Secret Chamber, near the pedestal with the white crystal and some Night Thorns Experiment No. 1,232. Growing tired. The crystal ought to allow me to channel the transfiguration energies... Dazzle Beach - inside the Mysterious Cave, next to a half-buried ship wheel Experiment No. 3,598. Spent today foraging for all I need to make the Transfiguration Stones... Scrooge's Store - on the second floor, on the right side of the left staircase (facing the vault) Experiment No. XXX. The Forgetting Vitalys Mine - underneath a pillar past the Shimmering Water Pool where the Brilliant Blue Potion is obtained Experiment No. 4,232. Found a rather tasty raspberry today. Perhaps the Night Thorns haven't strangled all the life in the Valley just yet. Dazzle Beach - on the east side of the dock Experiment No. 5,232. Only one way to seal the magic. I'll hide a code in these books. Something no one will ever think of...

Step 1: Obtain the Purple Potato

Go to the Secret Chamber in the Frosted Heights and speak to the Portal. Provide the Portal the following passwords in order: Potato Book Dreams Higitus Figitus Fugu Crystal Foraging The Forgetting Raspberry Magic If the passwords are provided in the correct order, the Portal will spawn the Purple Potato. Pick up the Purple Potato and combine it with an Empty Vial at Crafting Station to craft the Royal Purple Potion.

Obtaining the Crystalline Green Potion (Green Potato)

Step 1: Collect Emerald Bottles

First, collect sixteen Emerald Bottles submerged in water around around the Valley. They can be fished from various bodies of water using the Fishing Pole. The bottles may be difficult to see depending on the lighting/time of day, but when the line is cast near the bottles, golden ripples will appear, allowing the bottles to be successfully reeled in. The exact locations of the bottles are: Peaceful Meadow - in the small northwest pond Peaceful Meadow - near the southern shore of the big eastern pond Dazzle Beach - on the shore near the Glade of Trust Dazzle Beach - beneath the bridge, facing the sea Dazzle Beach - on the west side of Skull Rock island Dazzle Beach - on the east side of Skull Rock island Dazzle Beach - near the Mysterious Cave where Ursula is first encountered Forest of Valor - in the pool underneath the waterfall falling from Frosted Heights Glade of Trust - in the pool underneath the waterfall falling from Sunlit Plateau Glade of Trust - in the stream southwest of the Giant Willow Glade of Trust - in the stream southeast of the Giant Willow Glade of Trust - in the small southeast pond Sunlit Plateau - near the southern shore of the big pond Sunlit Plateau - in the bend of the stream between the wooden bridge and the rock bridge Frosted Heights - in the bend of the stream between the blue ice bridge and the rock bridge Forgotten Lands - in the small northwest pond A map can be found here. After collecting all 16 Emerald Slivers, combine the slivers into a Jade Crystal at a Crafting Station. Note: The Crafting Recipe will not be listed at a Crafting Station until all 16 Emerald Slivers have been obtained. The recipe is listed under Functional Items.

Step 2: Obtain the Green Potato

After crafting the Jade Crystal, go the Herbalist Room in the Vitalys Mine and Interact with the green orb. Pick up the Green Seed spawned by the interaction and take it to the Forgotten Lands. The Green Potato will be ready to harvest 3 hours after planting and watering the Green Seed in the Forgotten Lands. After harvesting the Green Potato, combine the Green Potato, the Jade Crystal, and an Empty Vial at a Crafting Station to craft the Crystalline Green Potion. Note: The Crafting Recipe will not be listed at a Crafting Station until the Green Potato is harvested. The recipe is listed under Potion & Enchantment.

Unlocking the Rainbow Fox

Step 1: Unlock the Rainbow Fox

After collecting all six potions in the previous steps, combine the six potions into a Rainbow Potion at a Crafting Station. Then, after progressing the main storyline until the story quest The Dark Castle, go to the foyer of the Dark Castle and clear Night Thorns to the right of the first door until reaching an alcove with a bed, a wardrobe, and a fireplace. Next to the bed is a small gray stone statue of a fox which, when interacted with, opens a window to insert an item. Placing the Rainbow Potion into the window will play a short cutscene of the Rainbow Fox being transformed from stone. After the cutscene, the Rainbow Fox will be added as a companion.
